Diego Philips is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from Belgium, who moved to London to undertake a music performance degree and to pursue a career as a musician. Over the past three years, he has put out two singles and one EP and, along with his band, has performed more than 25 shows.

Drawing from an assortment of eclectic influences, Philips is a sensitive lyricist whose style is reminiscent of artists like Devendra Banhart, Damien Rice, and John Mayer. Not bound by genre or convention, and inspired by artists ranging from Damien Rice and Earth, Wind and Fire to Bob Dylan and Tame Impala, Philips has already begun to carve a space of his own on the London music scene.

Themes of love, heartbreak, personal growth, community, and difference are woven through his oeuvre, and are brought to life by a style that can best be described as an experimental blend of indie, funk, blues, and psychedelia. Collaboration, experimentation, and a commitment to telling meaningful stories informs Philips’ approach to making music, and his heartfelt performances are rooted in a desire to bring people together and enjoy the sense of community that music creates.

Philips and his band, the Pretty Boys, formed while at BIMM in Lon- don in 2015. They expanded from a group of three to a six-piece act, and each members’ distinct cultural background adds richness to the band’s sound. Together they have played at venues like the Half Moon, the Troubadour, the Finborough Arms, and the Underbelly, and intend to perform more gigs in London and beyond this year.
