Captain Hook @ Ozora Festival 2017

It was a chilly night in Tankwa with a fresh breeze under the bright moonlight that illuminated a dancefloor filled with the most colorful of human beings. Each of them brought drinks, gifts, hugs and smiles and when I took over after an amazing Set of my friend Ruud, I tried to reset the vibe to a deeper level that resembled the new atmosphere of the night. Thanks to everyone for making this happen, what a beautiful experience for all of us. Unfortunately something went wrong with the recording, therefore I only have an hour of my set. I will try to reconstruct the rest, yet I don't clearly remember what I played ;). 

This is my contribution to the beautiful Afrika Burn 2018. 

Look what we can create, when we are present in the now.

Time+Place: BOB MOSES at San Diego's Museum of Man

I'm back in Berlin now and it's hard to put my current feelings into words. I will need a little more time to process the impressions of the last three weeks completely. While writing these lines, I have to take a deep breath again and again, because so many memories come up. A project which is so close to our hearts, to experience from beginning to end and to be a part of it, cannot be described with simple gratitude. It is much more. When I joined this community three years ago, I couldn't have imagined the impact it would have on my consciousness at some point. Now I can say that I really appreciate every single encounter. Interpersonal relationships are exactly what will get you ahead in your life. For me, this realization is not really something new, but after this time with you, I became more than aware of it. A very special thank you goes out to Tobi, carsten and wolfi. I am deeply impressed by your basic attitude and the intensity with which you do all this.
Just before my set at the Festival North in summer, I was at a point where I thought about giving up djing. But after that I got such overwhelming feedback which gave me strength to go on. I was so often asked why I didn't record it. This year, the feedback was even more intense. I've been a DJ for almost 10 years now and I'm still learning. I'm really not the best when it comes to technical skills. But my own motivation and claim from Djing is also a completely different approach. I am very proud that so many of you realize why I do it the way I do it. I always play intuitively and don't prepare anything. I was told shortly before my set on Saturday morning that I can only play about 90min, which is usually much too short for me. I really wanted to put my focus on techno this time. In the middle of my set, I was told to keep going, so I decided to play as much timeless music as I could. Here is the result. Thank you for dancing. <3

This is our 50th podcast. It was exactly one and a half years ago that we published the first one, and everything that happened within this project and became what it is now can be described differently, but we won’t even try to be original and will define it as a miracle. We are grateful to all the artists who shared their music with us, to each and every person who cares for this project, to Khoren who created the picture on the wall, to those who inspire and criticize us, as well as those who contribute and work on the texts. Steffi*, also known as "Mind Crash", calls Bremen his home and has been involved in the techno scene since late 2009. It was at this time that he was introduced to the subcultural club project, ZUCKER, which sparked his passion for underground raves and DJing. Slowly but surely, he began to make a name for himself in the local scene, supporting underground events and eventually becoming a resident DJ at ZUCKER CLUB. He also collaborated closely with AUDITIVE, a Bremen-based vinyl label, and organized regular, in-depth label parties.

In 2011, Steffi* was invited to join the party series "Heimlich," founded by Bebetta & Le Palf, which has since become one of the most popular parties in Bremen. Meanwhile, he had the opportunity to play in various clubs and festivals across Germany, such as Fusion, Wilde Möhre, Keller Club, Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Salon Zur Wilden Renate, and his current favorite venue, Zugvøgel Festival.

In 2014, Steffi moved to Berlin to gain a deeper understanding of the scene and its clubs and to participate in events. It was on the recommendation of a good friend that he attended one of the first Zugvøgel Festivals in 2016 and was immediately captivated by the independent work and creativity of the organizers. He made the decision to support this project with passion from that moment on.

Steffi's musical preferences as a DJ are characterized by his love for deep, emotional, and particularly melancholic music, as well as hypnotic, driving, and dramatic powerful music. Since the beginning of his career, he has aimed to combine these characteristics into a recognizable style, which sometimes makes him a secret weapon, especially for morning hours, afterhours, or closing sets in clubs or at festivals.
