Bulgarian dark mastermind MANASYt (Petar Tassev) has been rocking his own brand of Nurolektro since 2003. He’s responsible for a vast array of menacing titles on labels such as Touchin' Bass, Kommando 6, Musar and the infamous Bunker - along with about 40 others.

An artist that couldn’t care less about trends nor hypes, and whose main driving force is that authentic passion for the genre. Some of his tunes resemble a future horror movie score, others a visit to an asylum, but most sound like the soundtrack to an Alien invasion.

“Kotti Island Disc” is a collaborative concept album which provides a foundation for the overall project “Kotti Island”, a multimedia exhibition at Kottbusser Tor in Berlin in January 2023. In collaboration with ten artists, various conceptual tracks were produced that are inspired by Kottbusser Tor. The multifaceted environment of “Kotti”, as it is locally known, offers an ideal surface upon which to play with and emphasize auditory details that can stimulate the way we imagine what this place means.

This exploration of Kottbusser Tor began with a series of field recordings made by the musician Cecilia Tosh, who is also the artistic director of “Kotti Island”. These field recordings, which create space in between extremes, form the basis of the album. They are collected snapshots, some of which have been sonically 
de-contextualised, while others directly reproduce what was recorded—sometimes interpreting, sometimes documenting. The result is a sample pack composed of ambient recordings (which have been barely edited), edited recordings (which have been re-worked), shorter loops (percussive to melodic elements and basses) and vocalists (newspaper articles, online reports, Wikipedia entries and the artist’s own texts).

The composition of each track was preceded by a meeting with Cecilia Tosh at Kottbusser Tor, where the space was analysed in both auditory and visual terms and the atmosphere was absorbed. Afterwards, each participating artist received an individual sample pack with the field recordings as well as video clips depicting everyday situations at Kottbusser Tor made by Juma Hamdo and Jaś Miszewski. While the sample pack was meant as an inspiration, each artist was also required to use at least one element from it when composing.

“Kotti Island Disc” includes ten musical interpretations that show Kotti as a diverse and lively place. The project is intended as an artistic snapshot of a place in a constant state of flux. It is, furthermore, an invitation to participate in an auditory journey through Kottbusser Tor accompanied by ten very different artists.

Adriano Canzian was born near Venice, Italy. At 19, he moved to Rome, where he studied sculpture,
graphics, painting and contemporary art.
In 1996 he moved to Paris and started a parallel career as music producer, collaborating with fashion
shows and experimental theater.
In 2003 he signed his first contract with Dj Hell's German label, International Gigolo Records,
becoming the First Italian producer in Helmut Geiger's factory.
In 2003 he released his first single "Macho Boy", which instantly became a classic in the world of
fashion and advertising. In 2004 he released his second 12” “My Boyfriend Is Very Sexy”
In 2005 his debut album "PORNOGRAPHY"
In 2007 he signed with David Carretta’s French label Space Factory Records and released 3 EP 12”
and his 2° album “METAMORPHOSIS” (feat.Terence Fixmer, Carretta and others)

In 2015 he released his 3° album "ZOMBIES" on the Spanish label I-Traxx Recordings
In 2015 he met the duo band Hard Ton. Together, they started a new project,"The Fool’s
Stone".
In 2019 their album “ELEVEN” is released.
Due to artistic misunderstandings, Adriano left the project immediately after.
In 2018 he released his 4° album “DAMNED" and 2 EPs on British label Icon Series Record
Since fifteen years, Canzian has also produced dozens of remixes for many international artists.
And he played the best clubs in the world.
All through 2023, Adriano will be releasing various projects, as well his fifth full-length album.

"The Sun Sets and I Keep Walking" is not a conceptual album by any means, but there are some ideas orbiting. The title track and a couple of others ("The Eternal Now", "Golden Aether") are a reflection on mortality and transcendence, whatever that means. Big words, hopefully expressed in an unpretentious manner. "Lie is the Force that Rules the World" is overtly political; it tries to express the uncertainty of these times of fake news, deep fakes and all-in- between-fake. Deceit is indeed a powerful weapon pointing at us all nowadays. "Gnostic Switchblade" is somewhat related, albeit taken from the other side: spirituality is an active form of resistance from that aggression. Maybe there is no way out, but there is a way. Finally, in a lighter note, "Smokehead" is a reference to both my live shows always full of smoke and the smokey flavor of a good Islay Scotch, which I'm very fond of.

Closing off August are Stockholm-based duo Harlem Electronics. They consist of veteran producers Martin Thomasson and Johan Skugge, who are well known for their work in dub and minimal techno. They've been dropping some serious heat on lauded labels such as Veyl, an EP Filmmaker's Body Musick label, Milan-based Marguerite Records, anf others. They have a distinct style that to our ears is a balance between electro, synth-wave, EBM with vocals. Lock in for 80 plus minutes of Broken English Club, new Bertram on Pinkman, new Ron Morelli, Terrence Fixmer, and others.
