Manos Saklas invites Shilla Strelka for a discussion on Otoliths in Flux.
They have an in-depth discussion on Strelka’s long standing engagement with sonic practices, as well as in the political and the collective dimensions of listening. Her expansive body of curatorial work includes initiatives such as Struma+Iodine and Unsafe+Sounds Festival, which takes place annually in Vienna as a space for critical sound art and experimental music; as well as a long-standing collaboration with the influential Viennese label Editions Mego.

Their conversation delves into the concept of sonic agency, how listening sessions can become a mode of both research and resistance, as well as about her focus on establishing new ways to think and act collectively via sonic means. They also touch on her methods of creating cross-disciplinary encounters that foreground embodied listening, affective politics, and media critique—positioning sound not as a closed field, but as an expanded practice embedded in cultural, technological, and social contexts.
