Sometimes my music making is not easy,,, today I had to play music while a family said last goodbye to a girl that was two years younger than me,, she died suddenly, had not been sick or anything.  This was so hard, and I´ve been feeling strange all day.

So this little improv is just me releasing some feelings, tension, sadness, thoughts,,, everything,,,,    was not going to but while working on another thing I felt the neccessity to play it.

Her Last Smile (warning, over 10 minutes)

Today is 9 below zero,,, everything is white,,,   and today I´m pretty sure I´ve been through and seen most of human expressions,,,  played a concert at lunch where people relaxed, enjoyed and sometimes where amazed I think,,, there I felt stress, tired and lost,,,   then I had choir practice where I tried to make people feel confident, happy, in control and enthousiastic, and afterwards when I was tired I managed to say the wrong thing and make a choir member cry, although I did not intend to.   I don´t know how one can experience all these expressions of human nature in one day without being influenced.   And to add to it,,, I love the snowflakes we had yesterday,,, although it makes drivers forget how to drive.

Sat down at the computer late at night,, and saw my friend the moon through my window,,, not always that I get that partner of mine through the window of my studio....   so the melody starts with "Hello mr moon",, you can sing it to the head of the melody.  Kind of feel this song could go with voice and good lyrics,,,,   but it´s a simple one, relaxed and simple chords,,,   guess that can work once in awhile.

Thank you all my friends for commenting,, love you all,  I know I´m not doing enough feedback, but I´m working on a lot of personal issues.  I´m also doing quite a bit of composition, two works premiered this week,  well, one I´m playing with a soprano and a trio where my wife is playing.  But hell,, it´s like 20 minues of music "composed" not improvised. :)

Icelandic summer has not arrived,,, for us in the SW,,, never has there been so much rain since 1920, and almost no sunshine.  Currently we are dealing with some real winter tempests,,,  low temps.  and crappy weather.   Since I play a lot of funerals I say,, let´s just be happy we are alive,,, and let´s spend our time loving others because when we die thats the thing that will go missing,,, our love and care of others.

Love and peace my friends  :)  (and yes, I´m a bit drunk tonight,, just a little though :) )

A Message In A Broken Bottle

At that time I met a stranger, her story was sad and her voice gentle.. She saw and heard what no one should.. She suffered a lot. I recorded lullaby for her to make our world quieter, less scary, cold nights warmer. Many times my music was written by empathy, maybe this one is an illusion of fear that we pass through. It seems to weep over the idea of utopia, happiness. Everything needs a little bit of silence .. Even music..

Autumn Wind Sounds - 2 Hour Long Relaxing Nature Sounds For Sleep

Hello again,,, after the big week end, and while I wait for the mastering of my new cd finishes I like to continue with my upright sessions.

I´d like to ask you all for advice,,, is the sound of this convincing to you,,, please be honest about it,,, there is lot of mechanic sound and the pedal has a nasty cracking sound, but in a strange mode I kind of like the sound I´m getting now. Does all this extra sound bother you? would you like to listen to eight songs done this way? cause thats the plan now if the feedback is good.

Thanks to Dirk for his advice on the upright setup,,, the mic´s are here under the keyboard, strange place to put them, with the cover underneath taken off.

Inner Chill

Finally I´m somewhat happy,,  after some tinkering I think I arrived at how to set up my mic´s and how to play my upright for this project that has been building up for a long time -  And last night I did the first session of the hours albums.

The idea is to sit down and just record, and thats what I did last night, recorded 8 songs and this one is number two. Each album will be 8 songs named after the monastic hours, the circle of christian meditation that has mostly become lost in today society.

I really hope you like this idea and sound, and that some of you might even buy the whole album on itunes and bandcamp when the time comes. The other album Skuggaskil (physical release) is coming out next week,,, cover is finished and now they only need to print and put everything together.

When I was recording on thursday evening the piano started out ok, but then some old ghosts came back,,,  I also started hearing strange things and at a certain point in time I felt the piano was all out of tune.

Still I went on and this is the seventh song (of eight) that I did that night,,, the creaking is more apparent here again,,, but it´s hard to get rid off in mixing without killing the higher freqz.

This one is evening song, vesper, which is exactly at 18:00,,, and at that hour here in Iceland I present to you this song.

It´s about people taking pictures of their loved ones after their death... and usually it was the only picture taken of them during their time,,, so in a way never in their lifetime.

Especially this picture here, that I put with the song, stabbed me in the heart,,, probably a mother with her dead daughter...   this picture might be the most expensive thing that they ever spent on her....   And the girl looks so relaxed and lovely

This tune is also an improv over am aug6th,,,   it´s in a minor,,, but the f sharp is a constant,,, I always turn back to that tone to bring the song back to it´s a minor with aug 6th.

An icelandic song about spring in february, just has to be mostly about hope, but nothing really on the ground.

However we are having our first warm spell since november so some things have started and I have started my greenhouse with a heater finally,,,, so for me spring is here :)

Una Melodia Semplice (x) (sheet done)

For the best listening of this I advice to use good headphones or good speakers cause computer speakers will just trash the frequency range of the organ. It´s also 18 minutes long and the best part is around the 15 minute mark.

I have for awhile wanted to start doing recordings on my instrument, even experimenting. This is, lets say, a start,,, it´s just an improv where I was just listening to the instrument and see what works. The mic´s were quite close so the sound will get quite big in the end. Hope you last till then,,, where the tutti comes.

Sorry about the errors here and there, the organ is not very forgiving while improvising. And the mechanical sounds are the keyboard,,, it´s quite loud.

Thank you for the support and for listening, even to these pieces that are a bit strange perhaps, pieces that I really like :)
