'A Love Letter to Braindance'
A continuous mix in three parts.

“This mix is a labour of love to highlight a sound that has been hugely inspiring for me and my music. 'Braindance', 'IDM', 'electronica' - whatever you want to call it. I personally like the term 'braindance', not just because it was coined by Rephlex Records, of whom I'm a huge fan, but because I feel it nicely sums up the sound. 'IDM' and 'electronica' are too clinical and limiting but 'braindance' feels open and playful. Though, for me, all the best tracks of this ilk are 'brain-and-heart-dance' - the emotional impact being why I love this music and keep coming back to it. 

This mix is made up mostly of sounds of the late 90's / early 00's, tracks I loved when I was coming, but also includes some recent tracks that are indebted to the 'braindance' sound and idea. It is a continuous mix but split into three parts, conceptually, each covering a different aspect of the sound.”

Delectable and devious with light seeping through, explore the far-reaches of the Great Dark Spot with Francois Dillinger. The Detroit-based producer and DJ released an album, MINDFRAME: CYCLES, on @specimenrecords in 2021 and has also appeared on labels including @diffusereality, @naturalsciences and @lloydstellar's @ldirecords. He also has a monthly show, MINDFRAME, on Deep Space Radio. We had the pleasure of watching Francois Dillinger perform a live set at this year's Movement and are so thankful to host this superb DJ mix by him.

Sergio Bravo, aka Yūko, is a Spanish DJ who started spinning records in 1999, with Detroit and British Techno as his primary influences. He added Spanish productions and explored other genres like Electro and Breaks, especially living in London in 2010, and then joined the Fluid collective to later found New North Records in 2014, which focuses on Electro, Techno, and Downtempo. Foreign is the pseudonym used by Miguel Vázquez to play sets of IDM and electro sounds, combining the smoothness and efficiency of transparent melodies with abstract landscapes and dense atmospheres loaded with complex polyrhythmic structures.

After some initial years playing in small local clubs, where trance and techno formed the most prominent sound in his sets, it was in mid-2001 when Miguel and Iván Marín created Silverside Collective with the aim of investigating and promoting the most experimental side of electronic music.

At the same time, he started working in the well-known record shop Recycled Music Center in Madrid, run by Dj Yke. This period lasted several years and meant for him a remarkable apprenticeship in all styles of electronic music.

Throughout these years Foreign has played in several events of Hard Taste, A.I. Series and in clubs like NAO, Dub Club, Specka, Graffiti, Shagü Club, etc..

In 2022 he created his own label, Mutoscope Records, mostly oriented to the IDM sound. He's currently preparing his first reference which will be released on vinyl soon.
