...and now for something completely different.  

There's been a lot of dance tracks lately, and I don't like to get predictable when it comes to Interbay.  So, into the world of soundscapes and moody we go!  

I've had this one sitting on the shelf for a little while--I'd originally thought it would be the perfect track to post on the day after Halloween--like the lingering mood from this year's Spooky Week.  It just didn't end up feeling right to post it that day.  

Since then, I've been waiting.  When you create a song titled "November Morning Fog"--you are drawn to the possibility of posting it on a November day when there's been fog in the morning.  

And...well, ta-daaaaa!  That's what Seattle has today--and on a Sunday, when I do like to post mellower stuff here, too!    

In my mind, I'm picturing someone driving slowly through thick fog as they skirt the industrial area near the canal bank.  You can hear the sound of metal and machinery all around you, even if all you can see are vague shapes in the mist.  It is unnerving and somewhat alien, it turns the familiar into unrecognizable and strange.  It is more insidious than the darkness because it teases you into the sense that you're forever just on the edge of understanding your surroundings.  

Back in the Facebook-era of Interbay (January 23 to May 24), soundscapes like these were more common than they've been here on SoundCloud--for one important reason.  Interbay tracks posted to SoundCloud must have a vocal element and an attempt at providing structure--which was not expected in the moody instrumentals that I was willing to post on Facebook.  

In this particular track, there are some vocalizations as part of the ambience and atmosphere of the track--but I also weaved in the sound of a radio weather/traffic report--not as the main focus of the track, but as part of this moment in time.    

I think it works.  

I get it if you like the uptempo dance stuff more, or when I really dip into my post-punk roots...that speaks to you more.  Totally understand.  But tracks like this one are just as much part of the Interbay experience as those are.  Sometimes, you need a sorbet to clean your palate.  

Mmmmm...sorbet actually sounds wonderful right now.  Am I allowed to eat sorbet at 9:30 in the morning?  Is it foggy enough out that no one will ever know if I do?  Am I certain I even have any sorbet in the house?    

Talk about first world problems!  

Wherever you are in the world, I'm sure that at some point you've experienced a foggy November morning...and, if my calculations and concotions in the lab have been successful, this latest Interbay track should transport you right back there.
