It is with great pleasure that we at Reptile Dysfunction return from our short hiatus, whilst the world went a bit crazy for a second there, and have decided to hunker down and re-define what our label is about, working hard to cultivate the wealth of fresh talent that we have found from around the world.

Our first release back after the break is about as organic and earthy as it gets: Aniche is a young artist that came through Label Boss Doorly’s DJ Academy, and an artist that immediately stood out with his raw talent and left-field approach to music. Aniche made his debut with a vinyl release on Reptile Dysfunction in April 2020 so this EP, entitled 'FROM DUSK', will be his second with us.

Having established his sound with deeply Asiatic influences, this outing is beautifully complemented by a more laidback, Balearic flavour, and so we thought this would be a perfect time to bring this affecting collection of positively charged healing essence into the world.

This might not be what you would usually expect from Reptile Dysfunction - and don’t worry, the club tracks will be back with our next release - but this one is to be enjoyed whatever your vibe might be. Whether you need your soul warming up, or if you're cooking up something casual, sunbathing, or just a bit spaced out after a tough day (or a very good night!), let these waves of wonderfulness wash over you, and shimmer a groove into your world.

Aniche explains below his intentions with one of the tracks from this EP, which really sums up how deep his music can hit!

"Shortly after becoming a Reiki practitioner, I found myself studying the sonic frequencies of each of the 7 Chakras, and was soon commissioned to create 30-minute excursions for each one: cultivating a journey to guide the listener through, to use as cathartic music therapy as well as meditative dance.

This EP includes a Sunset Remix of the final galvanisation period for the "396" session, and is therefore tuned to that frequency - which the Root/Base Chakra resonates at - and features the stunning talents of singer/songwriter Yazmyn Hendrix."

With the artwork for this EP, because of Aniche’s cultural heritage, and in turn that musical influence on this EP, we decided to pay homage to the late great Indian Artist SH Raza, and reference his symbolic abstraction style in the image, which we feel fits this EP beautifully, bringing the Balearic groove to an Indian sunset.

We welcome back our close friend and artist Ordonez to his home base Mother Recordings. After hit breaking records on labels as Australians number one record label Club Sweat, Too Many Rules and Farris Wheel Recordings the adorable Ecuadorian will release Lose Control EP on JUN 04 this spring!
Lose Control is a full on House stomper! The funky bass line groove pushes this track along while Ordonez weaves in the melody from organic synths and adds to the magic with some catchy vocals. The name of the titles says all! Next is Tuba Jam, six minutes full of bounce and 4-to-the-floor! The massive rubber kicks and the sub frequency tickles in the stomach with an infinity tuba groove that add flame to the fire! 
This release def jump out of the speakers, boom! :)

FNP - We Got Love

This September Sense Traxx's man Simon Shaw lands on Catz' N' Dogz's imprint Step Recordings with the pumping 'Passage To Nowhere' EP.

After releasing the likes of Future Time's Jackson Ryland, Ruff Stuff, Lady Blacktronika and Third Son, Step Recordings is releasing a brand new 3 tracker by Simon Shaw. The man behind the London based Sense Traxx delivered a pumping and groovy EP named 'Passage To Nowhere' EP. The EP comprises 3 Tech House and Detroit inspired cuts, a strong collection ready to damage dancefloors all around the globe.

The EP opens with the deep title track, a soulful and powerful cut, and it's followed by 'Space Trip', a club focus tune driven by hypnotic synths melodies. Finally the EP ends with 'Sirens', a soulful track full of late night vibes! Step Recordings is back with a bang, and it's Simon Shaw to light the fire this time.

After the success of their last release, which saw 'Dazed' peak at number 18 on the Beatport Deep House Charts - Cerillo's Matchbox imprint kicks off 2022 with a single release from the label owner himself, equipped with a groovy deep-tech remix from fellow Irishman - Kamorah.

'Vanity' traverses the House/Techno spectrum, with Cerillo's punchy kicks, skippy hats, and deep stabs - accompanied by some addictive old-skool vocals, to create a contemporary, dancefloor-oriented hitter.

Kamorah delivers an exciting remix with a groove-driven approach to the original. It's percussive, darker, and awash with ambient and trippy sounds that lead up to an effective drop.

Veteran house and techno producer Deetron makes a long awaited return to Hot Creations this April. Delivering the Glass EP, it marks his first release on the label since 2012’s remix of PBR Streetgang, continuing a standout 2022 for the Character label-head. 

Deetron spoke about the EP: “First and foremost, the tracks are effective DJ-Tools for the dancefloor so basically the inspiration was wanting to make people dance. Both tracks were made/finalised when all dancefloors were shut due to the pandemic so I reckon the desire to return to the clubs can be heard in the tunes as well.” 

Glass takes the form of a piano-fuelled, peak-time cut, as fast-paced hats reside next to resonant kicks throughout. It feels upbeat and danceable in one, with Chicago-like house tones bringing the Swiss talent’s musical experience to the fore. Come On Back is a similarly soulful offering, packed full of disco-esque vocals and echoing pads to create a feel-good, club-ready number. An instrumental version of both tracks is included in the EP, each of which offer a more stripped-back take on proceedings. 

Deetron has remained a stalwart of contemporary house and techno for more than two decades. The well-loved DJ and producer has released on several of the industry’s leading imprints, including Gerd Janson’s Running Back and Jeff Mills’ iconic Axis Records in recent times. Add to that collaborations with the likes of Jamiroquai, Honey Dijon and José Padilla, as well as a career that began in the late nineties, and you’ll quickly start to learn how Deetron has garnered a truly global standing in the scene.
