Born out of a lockdown night when their usual Saturday night plans were off limits, Defected regular Darius Syrossian and South Records boss George Smeddles decided to cook something up for the anticipated return to the club. With just a vocal to work with, they decided to produce something with the 90s, uplifting vibe dancefloors would be needing. Demonstrating the same addictive, dancefloor-ready grooves seen on their previous collabs like ‘Get Toast’ and ‘Blood Orange’, this latest joint venture once again delivers the heat. With its deep organ bassline, playful keys and irresistible 4/4 swing, this record oozes club appeal in a way you can only expect from producers rooted firmly in the scene. Brazilian talent Classmatic is next up on Hot Creations with the two-track Toma Dale EP. Having already set dancefloors alight at the hands of label heads Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, the eagerly anticipated release drops this April. 

Classmatic explained how the release came together: “Everything started when I decided I needed a track to put in my sets with congas in. I live in Brazil and wanted something to represent the Latin sound as I didn’t have any tracks that incorporated this, so that's when Toma Dale ft Nfasis was born. Bape was literally inspired by some of the tracks Jamie Jones has been playing in his sets in recent years. I wanted to create a killer groove with acid influences and also produce a slightly different breakdown to what would be expected.” 

Toma Dale ft Nfasis achieves exactly what Classmatic set out to do. The track opens proceedings with enticing congas that instantly transport you to Latin America. Punchy drum pads pounce in and combine with the percussion to create a highly energetic base, as finely cut Spanish vocals are embedded to fuse everything together. Bape pays homage to the Hot Creations sound. Warm, soft, bouncy kick drums lead the track, joined by subtle acid sounds that tantalise the ears. The breakdown is perfectly placed with the addition of mesmerising vocals that fade in and out before the punchy, bass-heavy drums are hauled back in. 

Classmatic has built up a lot of traction over recent years, catching the eyes and ears of major heavyweights in the field, releasing under such labels as Solid Grooves and Hottrax and in 2021 he remixed Cloonees’ major hit, When The Sun Goes Down. Receiving support from artists such as Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Pete Tong and Loco Dice to name a few, it comes as no surprise when we say there is a bright future ahead for the talented artist.

Step by Step (David Estepa) is a Music Producer & DJ based in Barcelona, Spain.

With the support of big-name artists and professionals of the industry like Timmy Trumpet, Nicky Romero, Juan Magán, Marsal Ventura, Dany BPM, Vicente Roca or Prophecy, he has released tracks in some of the best international record labels, like Addicting Records, Clipper’s Sounds, Musata Music, Harmor Records or RNC.

He has performed in festivals like Sallefest and in several bars and clubs like Costa Breve, Macarena, Plataforma or Salero, as well as in some of the best radio stations from Spain and Dominican Republic, like LOS40 Dance or Digital Hits FM.

In 2022, he becomes a resident DJ of mamoneo party in ARDE, as well as in Bella's and Club 23.

He participated in the DJ Challenge organized by Sergei Rez, Ibai Cereijo and Óscar Hernández, receiving really good feedback, and joined the Campus DJ Pro afterwards.

He was also one of the TOP 10 DJs in the Addicting All Star DJ's Contest.
