This month's Perspectives was a bit of an experiment for me so I hope you'll like it! There's been loads of great new music lately from the likes of Gregor Tresher, Eelke Kleijn, Hot Since 82, Dosem, Chymera, and more. Then it's my pleasure to present an exclusive guest mix by the hugely talented Martin Roth in hour two. This Frankfurt born, Berlin based DJ and producer is one of my current favorites. Empty Streets was first recorded by the band that I am in Late Night Alumni (yes, I am also in a band).  It was an instant classic and was played in clubs around the world.  But it was a really difficult track to find and buy.  So for my last album DYNASTY I re-recorded it and put a new version out.  Since that was a bit more chill I needed a fresh club mix while touring for DYNASTY.  Then came along my homey Digital LAB who sent me this amped up version of "Louder Than Words".  I loved it and later got the idea to lay the "Empty Streets" vocal on top.

Hope all that made sense.  If not, no worries just enjoy the music.

We asked Stereo:Type about the process of making this mix, and here is what he had to say:

"When you're commissioned to make a mix for DJ Shadow, you know you have to pull something special out of the bag. Making sure it was a musical experience was as much a key part of this as making it a hype mix to listen to, considering you are working with material by a guy whose process involves finding sounds which work together as though they were made for one another. When i was approached to do this, I was asked to make the mix using material either sampled by, or remixed for or by Shadow. So Instead of making it a straight up one track into another kind of mix, I tried to approach it like a live performance, deconstructing tracks into their component parts then re-assembling and combining them with my own take on it. I certainly hope people have as much of a blast listening to it as i did making it."
