Black Squirrel sits silent and perched up from the limb of an Autumn Blaze Maple tree in Rockford, of Illinois, tucked nicely between the corrupt chaos of Chicago and Wisconsin's neighborly gluttony. However, stagnant he's not. Black Squirrel has roamed for years and many miles with his peers, serving up performance duties as one of The Rusted Hearts with Miles Nielsen, one of eight dozen Wandering Sons for Cory Chisel's flying smoke monster show, a dutifiul soldier with What Army and their quiet captain Cameron McGill, a percussion hero with the guitar skronk master Bill Dolan of Heroic Doses and 5 Style, and many more.

Their travels stretched from coast to coast, rewarding Black Squirrel many adventures: multiple Daytrotter.com sessions; live performances on NPR’s World Café Stage, Seattle's KEXP, and Chicago’s WGN-TV; a LuxuryWafers.net session at Chessvolt Studios in Los Angeles, CA; supporting slots for fellow artists such as Cheap Trick, DADA, Chuck Prophet, Dr. Dog, Scattered Trees / ON AN ON, Ryan Bingham, Joshua James, Jackson Browne, Ok Go, Trapper Schoepp and The Shades, Soul Asylum, The BoDeans; and more–to arrive right back here, where he's always been. It's here in the Forest City, USA where Black Squirrel also teaches up-and-coming young musicians while running the Underground Squirrel Recording Studio, recording/producing midwestern artists like Heavy Boots, Mana Kintorso, Jesus Correa / Los Osos Voladores, Dirtyville, and has composed various film, and commercial scores.

In between all of this, he listens, observes, gathers, and creatively prepares what he must to survive each winter's cruel, calm delays for warmer days. Trading in many nuts for songs–many songs–he's prepared something new to share. Black Squirrel's next adventure includes dozens of compositions that he's written, performed, and recorded with his fellow peers. Those songs are Black Squirrel; and Black Squirrel is Micky Rosenquist–musician, performing artist, producer, engineer, teacher, and song writer.
