Stephen Yip was born in Hong Kong and now living in U.S.A. He received his doctor of musical arts (D.M.A.) at Rice University and bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.  He has attended major music festivals including: Wellesley Composers Conference, Aspen Music Festival, International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt, Asian Composers’ League, ISCM World Music Days, Chinese Composers’ Festival, Music X, June in Buffalo, IMPULS Ensemble Akademie, California E.A.R. Unit Composer Seminar, the 13th International Summer Program, Czech Republic, International Composers’ Workshop, Luxembourg, the International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt, Germany, Wellesley Composers’ Conference. Residencies include: the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Florida, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, Nebraska, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts , Yaddo Colony, NY and the MacDowell Colony, NH.    

Yip’s works have been performed in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Israel, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Philippines.  He has received several composition prizes, included “Earplay”, “Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Award”, “Taiwan Music Center International Composition Prize”, “Robert Avalon Interantional Prize”, “Singapore International Composition Competition for Chinese Orchestra”,  “Haifa International Composition Prize”, First International EPICMUSIC Composition Prize, Italy, International Biennial composition competition, the Debussy Trio Music Foundation, Molinari Quartet’s Third International Composition Competition, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Emerging, the ALEA III composition Competition, the fourth NACUSA Texas Composition Competition, the International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition 2010, by the National Academy of Music, Thessaloniki, Greece, and the 2010 Alvarez Chamber Orchestra Freestyle Composition Competition, London, England .  

His works have been performed by major ensembles and players such as Alarm Will Sound, Earplay New Music, Mivos String Quartet, New York New Music Ensemble, Great Noise Ensemble, North South Consonance, Brno Philharmonc Orchestra, inFLUX Duo, Windpipe Chinese Orchestra, Little Giant Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, St. Paul Chambr Orchestra, Curious Chamber Players, TIMF Ensemble, Ensemble El Perro Andaluz, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Avanti, Ensemble Kochi, Moscow New Music Ensemble, etc.
  
Yip’s works are recorded in the ERM-Media, PARMA, Capstone, North South recording, Ablaze records, ATMA Classique, and Beauport Classical labels.  Yip is a member of the SCI, NACUSA, and ASCAP. Currently, he is on the music faculty at Houston Community College and works as a freelance composer.

Chris Hung established himself as one of the most notable Hong Kong composers of the younger generation.
Shortly after receiving his Bachelor degree in Engineering, he further pursued the Bachelor degree in Music, eventually obtained the Master and Doctoral degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong majoring in Composition, under the tutorlege of Prof. Chan Wing Wah and Prof. Victor Chan.

Hung has attended composition masterclasses in Darmstadt (Brian Ferneyhough, Hans Thomalla, Liza Lim, Rebecca Saunders) and Durham CoMA Composition Masterclass Residency etc.

From 2005 onwards, his approximate 60 creative outputs include both large-scale Western and Chinese orchestral works, chamber music and choir music as well. 
Hung’s compositions have enjoyed premieres globally in nearly twenty countries, including United States, Finland, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong etc.

Hung’s music is characterized by its refined and carefully arranged kaleidoscopic details, often displaying a complex, rich but clear fabric in a type of ordered chaos merging from the crossing bridge of the East and West. In addition, his music seeks to explore the infinite possibility of textural palette focusing on the sound timbre.

His recent accolades include the First Prize in “Sofia 2013” International Composition Competition, Second Prize in International Composers' Competition of the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music; Finalist-Laurate comprises 2015 and 2011 SCO International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Composition, International Jean Sibelius Composition Competition, "Florence String Quartet Call For Scores" Composition Competition, "CALL FOR SCORES Ensemble Rosetta 2017", EarShot: China – U.S. Composers Project Emerging Composers Competition etc.
  
His works have been featured at numerous international festivals and events, such as 2017 Muzički Biennale Zagreb, 2016 Beijing Modern Music Festival, 2015 ISCM World Music Days in Slovenia, Rostrum, Sibelius 150th Anniversary Celebration, Hong Kong International Percussion Festival, Asian Composers League Festival, Seoul Drum Festival and Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music etc.

Hung has collaborated with many brilliant orchestras, ensembles, performers and conductors locally and internationally, such as Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Sofia Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra, Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble, Helsinki Chamber Choir, Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Modern, Percussions Claviers de Lyon, International Contemporary Ensemble, Ascanio Quartet, Het Collectief, Stroma, Ognian Konstantinov, William Lane, Tsung Yeh, Yan Hui Chang, Richard Tsang etc.
Part of Dr. Hung’s music score is published by French publisher BabelScores, and the CDs with his works can be purchased from Hugo and Edizioni Sconfinarte etc. 
Dr. Hung currently serves as one of the Council Directors of Hong Kong Composers' Guild.

洪銘健是一位活躍於香港現代音樂界的傑出青年作曲家之一。他在香港中文大學取得工程學士學位, 音樂文學士，音樂碩士和音樂博士學位，師從陳永華教授和陳偉光教授。
洪銘健曾參與一些作曲大師班, 包括德國達姆施塔特新音樂夏季課程和英國杜倫CoMA作曲大師班等。
從2005年起, 他的作品已接近六十首, 包括大型西方和中樂管弦樂作品, 室內樂和合唱音樂等。
洪銘健的音樂曾在美國, 意大利, 德國, 波蘭, 英國, 瑞典, 保加利亞, 日本, 韓國, 台灣, 新加坡及香港等地發表。
洪銘健的音樂風格融合東方和西方的傳統, 作品結構嚴謹, 具有精緻的細節。
他近年獲得獎項包括：索菲亞國際作曲比賽首獎，波茲南 I.J. Paderewski音樂學院國際作曲比賽二獎; 作曲比賽入選作品包括2011年和2015年的新加坡國際華樂作曲比賽，西貝流士國際作曲比賽 ，佛羅倫斯弦樂四重奏作曲比賽等等。
他的作品曾在許多國際音樂節上發表，如2015斯洛文尼亞ISCM世界音樂日，西貝流士150周年音樂節，亞洲作曲家聯盟音樂節和德國達姆斯塔特現代音樂節等。
洪博士曾與許多國際著名的管弦樂團及演奏家合作，其中包括香港管弦樂團，新加坡華樂團，索菲亞獨奏家室內樂團，竹韻小集，赫爾辛基室內合唱團，法國里昂打擊樂團等。

洪博士的樂譜由法國出版商BabelScores出版。
洪現為香港作曲家聯會理事及香港作曲家及作詞家協會。
