Hanson once again calls upon the tides of the northern shores for her passionate rendition of this renaissance classic. Summoning stylistic voices from the depths of her Norwegian roots, this song features the evocative Hardanger fiddle which makes the tune fit for any season.

Inspired from her childhood experiences of celebrating St. Lucia and the winter solstice, Hanson sought to capture the enigmatic spirit of the light bringer as we count down the days of Advent.  By bridging elements of baroque parlor music with the heart of a gypsy woman the narrative never forgets the awesome power and excitement that this season represents.

The Story:

I used to have a phone full of voice memo ideas that never got used…

Taking “From Voice Memo 2 Demo” opened my eyes (and ears) to the concept of importing raw voice memo tracks into my DAW, which I could then use as a template to structure and recreate my song!

"Watch Me" started as a rough acoustic guitar jam idea that was initially captured on my phone and randomly chosen out of my voice memo “boneyard” for this P.LAB contest

This was also the first track that I've ever written, performed and produced 100% on my own!

Stepping out with this experiment also gave me the courage to repeat this process with other tracks since, "Watch Me" may not be my best work but it definitely marks a HUGE milestone in my personal musical journey!!

The word Singularity describes when space and time are intertwined to the point where they are no longer distinguishable from each other. Hanson is looking for that point here in a robust assertion of all the violin is truly capable of.
