For the 60th edition of the Mosaic Mix Series we head to Nantes and the sounds of Lou Berlinger’s Slow Dimension Project.

Describing the project as the ‘combination between the shades and opacity of dark techno sounds with light dubby echoed and filtered chords’ Lou has been spinning her minimal and deep dub sound for over ten years and has recently signed her debut release as Slow Dimension on Apnea Records.

Materielle (fka ILAYDA) is a Los Angeles based hypnotic and dub techno DJ & Producer and has been a part of the underground music scene for over 2 decades. She has been working for Native Instruments for 7 years and founded DECKREKORD, a label and live online venue channel, and has released on Delusional Records. Known for her 15 hour+ virtual event curations during the pandemic, every promoter was anxious to book her once everything opened back up. @poly-chain very much takes electronic much into the future. The Kyiv artist born Sasha Zakrevska uses IDM, electro, and techno as building blocks to construct her own eerie, intense, and atmospheric sound worlds that are as cinematic as they are physical. Her edgy melodies are inventive, and her machine rhythms are hugely distinctive. She has not only written solo albums but has composed for theatre and museums, collaborated with Nene H, and released charity albums for Ukraine as part of her ongoing musical resistance.  

For this week's podcast, Poly Chain has sent us the recording of the very special live show she played at Dekmantel Festival this summer. It is an absorbing hour of beatless sound that will move you as much as any drum track. There are storytelling chapters to the set that takes you from darkened underworlds to starry cosmic expanses as the moods go from reflective and calming to more intense and unsettling. It is very much the sound of tomorrow, today.

Peeking through the window of memory we dusted off our old and mistakenly forgotten folders of what, at one point, was simply called 'techno'. And we dug through some of that music to find the sounds that would still fit a collection of psychedelic and driving music. And, to no surprise, there is plenty to be found in those archives. 

With this month's mixtape, number 51, we pay tribute to some of those old school sounds delivered by some of the big and classic names. Not everything is 'old' but certainly everything is old school sounding. Straight techno for a lack of a better description. Loopy, gritty, groovy and peak time.
