As Mosaic reaches release number 40, Steve O'Sullivan dives into another studio collaboration with his new label mate and expert hand, Mike Schommer - bringing in the talents of Rod Modell on remix duties. 

Etching two slices of dub heavy grooves that cover either side of the techno and house spectrum, their first effort emphasises the former on title track "Submerged" (B1). It doesn't pull any punches - precision moulded bass takes centre stage around evolving synths and classic delay action. 

Their 2nd "Depth Charge Dub" (B2) leans more towards the latter as the duo focus on the combination of a rolling sub, laidback percussion and subtle stabs that cycle gently around. 

The cherry on top comes in the form of Rod Modell's "DeepChord's Negative-Space Exploration Version" as he takes a 9 min trip to the hinterland of his sonic imagination, elegantly finding new layers and spatial effects. 

Call it what you will, 'dubbed out house with a splash of techno' or 'dubbed out techno with a splash of house' - this is heavyweight material.

With Personal Momentz, a wonderfully deep and meditative album, released only at the tail-end of last year, Mr. G apparently has an itch left to scratch – and we’re all the richer for it. “YO…” has got G’s fingerprints (or: logo?) all over: robust, hypnotic, with just the right balance of crunch and juice. Dude's consistency would be alarming if it wasn't so enjoyable.

Around the halfway mark a simple, slinky and devastatingly effective piano line slices clean through the dense atmosphere, before gradually coaxing the rhythm back to life. It’s a infectious wiggle in the dark; or, in G’s case, perhaps something a little more exuberant.

His Resonate EP is due early March via Just Jack.

This club smash gained popularity and went viral on social media which lead it to being picked up by the likes of DJ Target, Colin Francis, Tough Love, Nick Grimshaw, Marvin Humes & more.

With the catchy vocal and the bouncy bassline, it comes as no surprise that it was chosen as one of Monki’s top 5 in Ibiza and played live on Radio 1 at Ushuaia this summer. Definitely one to get the dance floor shuffling.

Rising UK duo Solardo are welcomed back to the VIVa family this month with new offering on the VIVa LIMITED imprint. It arrives after the successful five track 'Squeeze EP’, which landed on VIVa MUSiC way back in February. The pair have since released on the likes of Lost Records, Of Unsound Mind and MTA Records, assuring their ascent to the fore of the scene doesn't cease. Production duo Mark Richards & James Eliot aka Solardo are the next to make their mark on Hot Creations with ‘Tribesmen’, delivering two heavy-duty cuts destined to stir serious heat in the club.

Already doing the rounds worldwide at the hands of some of the biggest names in the business, ‘Tribesmen’ and ‘Psycho Girlfriend’ are built straight for the dancefloor around dense and heavy basslines, punchy percussion and prominent vocal slices.

Hailing from Manchester, Solardo are continuing the city’s rich heritage in house music whilst carving out their own sound in the house and techno scene with releases on Madtech, MTA Records and more recently Of Unsound Mind.
