"Craving my Affection" narrates a juicy and emotional tale inspired by a devoted middle-aged fan who became deeply infatuated with a much younger Stephen Paul Taylor. Their relationship took an unexpected turn after a single encounter, leading to an unsettling shift from adoration to resentment. The fan's drunken midnight calls compelled the musician to change his phone number, and her volatile 20-year-old boyfriend even resorted to violence. Despite warnings about her stalking tendencies, Stephen was both afraid and attracted to her in a way, which ultimately contributed to the song's evocative essence.
Distinctive Musical Landscape:
A departure from Stephen Paul Taylor's previous work, "Craving my Affection" boasts a smoother and moodier soundscape, enveloping listeners with driving beats and captivating synth lines. The track skillfully weaves together elements of Funk and Nu-Disco, delivering an irresistibly danceable yet thought-provoking sonic experience.
An Intriguing Collaborative Effort:
The single was meticulously arranged by Stephen Paul Taylor himself in his home studio based in Berlin, Germany. To elevate the song's impact, he collaborated with the promising up-and-coming producer, Juan Contento, residing in London. Juan's previous experience includes working with The Online Recording Studio and West One Music group, bringing a fresh perspective and a driving rhythm to "Craving my Affection."

In his own words, Stephen Paul Taylor shared his thoughts on the inspiration behind "Craving my Affection": "This song was born from an upsetting and traumatic experience that was at once haunting and yet full of desire. I wanted to write a song that would encapsulate these feelings in the lyrics as well as the moody, dreamy sonic landscape."

Graveyard Eyes 2.0

My name is Stephen. I’m from a small town in Canada called Prince George. I fell in love with Eighties music as a child. Everything from Depeche Mode to OMD to Gary Numan. 80s music and especially synths, played a big role in my development. I wrote my first song on a cheesy Casio at 14 years old, entitled “Under The Moonlight”.  
After a string of Mcjobs, I eventually went to Emily Carr Art University and after graduating, torn between filmmaking and music, I chose the latter, diving into it full time. I become a full-time musician in 2009 with my duo Trike. In 2013 I branched off and went solo, reaching viral fame a year later with “EKSF”. Since then I’ve released “People Tonight” (LP), “Single and 17” (EP) and “Synthpop is Dead” (LP) which I also released on vinyl. I’ve also released several singles. I toured Europe several times and now, in 2023, I released my first pop song in two years entitled “Craving My Affection”.  
“Craving My Affection” was written on the subject of obsession and desire. I had a stalker in my early days of Trike and this song harks back to those days, except in the song, the protagonist desires his admirer intensely, even though he’s aware that it will lead to disaster. I was influenced by Synthwave and “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd whilst making this song.   My upcoming single features Preston Heyman (Kate Bush’s drummer) as producer and Derrick McIntyre (Jamiroquai) on bass. They’re appearing on three songs from my upcoming album.
