From the Bill Seaman /Stephen Spera album, "Architectures of Light "  ( Handstitched, England, 2022 ). The voice was recorded by Stephen Spera in South Africa a long time ago....his friend Miriam was a member of the Tswana Tribe, hence the title. Steph asked her to sing a 'traditional song' and the piece she sang was actually an Episcopalian Hymn, altered through the years by her tribe.........

Sound installation for the show "The delirious precision of dreams" by Stephen Spera at soAm gallery in Brooklyn. The images were created by compressing hundreds of layers of antique tintypes into new beings, these being transferred to metal, wood, and books. The sound was made in much the same way- some of the source material was culled from old wax cylinder recordings and processed, other sources were created, from field recordings as well as electronic sources,to exist in the space in layers, mirroring the images. In the second part, "spirit radio" I made a 'spirit radio' and used the transmissions as the source materials, coupled with layers of sound from all the parts of the extended piece.

...."What would ghosts listen to? It’s a question that not many people will have asked and even fewer will have answered. It is, however, a question that I pondered after listening to “A Light Is Running Along The Ropes” by New York sound artists Spirit Radio....Fans of ambient soundscapes will thus be satisfied by ten of the songs on this album but connoisseurs who would revel in the merging of soundscape and song will be best rewarded by those thirteen glorious minutes that are collectively called “Mercury”.
