DNA’s ‘Awaken’ is the eleventh release on the Ambious Records roster. The opening track, ‘Kundalini’, sets the tone with an uplifting intro to a emotionally-hitting EP held together by progression and drive. Second up is ‘Midnight’, a warm melody turned into a full-on club anthem  with moody bass sequencing and heart wrenching breakdowns. The EP’s closer is ‘Solis’ - is a metaphor for the EP’s inevitable and anticipated effect on South Africa’s festival landscape in the upcoming 2018/19 season.

Canada’s My Favorite Robot Records looks to a brand new split artist EP featuring Tiger Stripes feat. Pete Fij and the My Favorite Robot boys with Silky and some stellar vocal performances...

Toronto based My Favorite Robot Records has had a standout 2012 with album projects from Jori Hulkkonen and Fairmont, a string of highly acclaimed singles and people flocking to the imprint in their droves. Part of the labels appeal has been it’s willingness to throw together different artist, bringing real depth and diversity, whether it be on the much lauded ‘Stimulus package’ series or the highly successful split artist EPs.
Now label label bosses My Favorite Robot step up to share the stage with the ever-excellent Tiger Stripes for the latest multi artist release.

The single kicks off with Tiger Stripes feat Pete Fij. Mikael Nordgren AKA Tiger Stripes hails from Stockholm, Sweden and is no stranger to the MFRR label having released his own ‘Crossroads EP’ on the imprint earlier in the year. Here he teams up with vocalist Pete Fij from Creation Records band Adorable to record the superb ‘Out of Phase’, an electronic odyssey that draws on thread of atmospheric deep house to provide the bed for Fij’s ethereal and emotive vocals, quality stuff.

The flipside sees the My Favorite Robot trio of James Teej, Jared Simms and Voytek Korab join forces with London based Silky for a dark tinged rework of the 1984 Tear for Fears classic ‘Shout’. The record is the product of a collaborative recording session held in London when the MFR teams were here on tour and it is superb fusion of a great pop record with some seriously twisted production. Dramatic synth lines, heavy delays and swirling FX create the soundbed for Voytek to deliver an impressive take on Roland Orzabal’s vocal parts and the end result is a quirky and genuinely unique version of a much loved classic.

My Favorite Robot Records deliver again with a single that shows once again why they are finding such favour, enjoy!

Hailing from Amsterdam, Melawati, also known as Melawati Modular, is a composer, sound designer, avid lover of modular synths, and an experimental live electronic music artist making his debut on Ellum Audio. His beautiful single also features two astounding remixes by the maestro and label head Maceo Plex and melancholic masters Tale of Us.

The excellent 'Daliah' is a smooth and seductive journey through lush melody and productive synth work. Those synths come in various forms, from fluid smears to more pixelated stabs. The restless breakbeats below his humming tunes add to the sense of adventure as you race through the cosmos on the galactic journey Melawati has created.

Maceo Plex steps up to remix, with a version that has tense, textured chord vamps, punchy kicks, and enigmatic twinkling keys raining down from above. It is epic and cinematic and a perfect fit for his always far-gazing label.

Finally, the acclaimed Italian duo treats us with their excellent remix. Tale of US flip the cut into a spacious melodic techno track with dramatic breakdowns, big chord builds, and a cruising groove that will carry the auditor into the next dimension.

This is an innovative, classy melodic techno track of the highest order.

Melawati - Daliah

For the second VA EP, Nora En Pure introduces a diverse three-track compilation to Purified Records. Opening the EP on an uplifting note, Chris Luno’s ’The Ride’ infuses electro synths and a captivating vocal to create an addictive cut that will leave listeners wanting more. Discognition devises an atmospheric soundscape with ‘Almost There’ by combining an airy vocal, delicate piano chords and an uplifting bassline, resulting in a slice of sonic bliss. Le Roy’s ’Singularity’ closes the compilation with a bang. Moving into a darker realm, Le Roy fuses a hard-hitting bassline with soaring vocals, resulting in a moody creation that has already made a solid impact in Nora En Pure’s sets.
