Raw and no edit. Recorded while I was heavily sedated at the hospital. One contact mic, a couple of pedals and a 4 tracks (tape). Sound sources are my body and the tubes/scars in/on it...I only had vague memories of this... Recorded in the middle of the night while I was unable to sleep because of the physical pain I was in. This I remember.

This interview of Suvendrini Perera and Joseph Pugliese is meant as a complement to the conversation with Jan Turner in our 44th issue (Nov-Dec 2022), The Desert. Entitled "The Impact of a Life (and a Death): Colonial Encounters and Aboriginal Desert Practices," this conversation revolves around the life and death of Aboriginal leader and artist Mr. Ward, whose death was investigated by the project founded by Suvendrini and Joseph: Deathscapes. Together we discuss the various methodologies they use in this project that documents Indigenous and migrant deaths in detention by settler states (in particular Australia), as well as the crucial need to practice these investigations in the utmost respect of the grief of those who lost a relative or a community member.

John Zorn is honoring Derek Bailey with three Nights of Improvisation at Roulette, Jan. 19-21, 2023.

The Triangular Mass was performed during the Suoni per Il Popolo festival 2019. This recording was made by Steve Bates and it took place on June 5th 2019 at Le Gesu, Montreal. 

About: 
Triangular Mass (2016) was commissioned by the Icelandic Dark Music Days festival, and is a piece for multiple triangles, which is performable by all, regardless of previous musical knowledge or training. 

The ensemble is playing triangles in different sizes, creating a crystalline and prism like sound. The sound of the individual triangle and the individual player is dissolved and the sound reappears in a new collective form.
