Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfill those needs. At least, we hope so!

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during November 2017.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the time of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

This is a collaboration between Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) which happened early in 2014 & the summer of 2014 in Berlin . As everyone hopefully knows about Anton Newcombe’s history we have decided to tell you more about Tess Parks.

A native of Toronto, Tess Parks moved to London, England at the age of seventeen where she briefly studied photography before dropping out and deciding to focus on music. Tess managed to make an impression on industry legend Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, albeit the timing of their meeting could hardly have been less ideal; McGee was no longer involved in music and Tess was due to move back to Toronto. After moving back to her hometown in 2012, Tess formed a band on the advice of Alan McGee and less than a year after their meeting, he returned to music with his new label, 359 Music. Tess became one of his first six signings and released her debut record Blood Hot in November 2013 to excellent reviews. One reviewer described her as “Patti Smith on Quaaludes”. Others have mentioned her "gauzy psychedelic sound” and "smouldering voice”. Alan McGee himself said: “She’s only 24 and is already an amazing songwriter... she just doesn’t quite know she is yet … her most beautiful quality is her lack of ego. Tess is an amazing lady”.

In February 2014, she began recording with Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe in Berlin and they completed their new record 'I Declare Nothing' in autumn 2014. The record is due out later this year..

Some Of The Parts

Late 1960s and it was all a bit of a haze. I'd pulled together what I thought was a sensational troupe of minstrels to launch an assault on the hit parade. We'd togged ourselves out in groovy threads - the widest, wildest flared velvet trousers, open-to-the-waist paisley shirts and grandma's beads. Our music was loud and extreme but had sprinklings of folk - goodness knows what we were thinking. The band next door sounded pretty similar - I recognised some of them from the New Cardbirds.

Anyway - Keith Goon shoved his head round the studio door one day, spinning the top off his third brandy bottle with an eyesocket. 

"Gor blimey, me hearties" he barked "what's all this then? you sound dreadful - worse than Pagey's lot next door - you'll go down like a fart in a funeral!"

"What a spectacular name! Thanks, pal" I called back at him, just as  he threw a bass cab out of the window.

Fart in a Funeral never really took off - Led Balloon, or whatever they called themselves, had moderate success on the local Sunday pub circuit.

In our celebration month we’re continuing to focus on discoveries around the electronic music world. Today’s bartender is born in Amsterdam, currently she is based in London.  

In 2010, Malin chose to focus on music full time. For the past years she has been playing in Ibiza, Brazil, Mexico, Croatia, Mykonos, Istanbul, Burning Man, Cannes Film Festival and throughout the rest of Europe.  

As a passionate electronic music lover from early ages on, Malin is aiming to spend more time in the studio when she isn't traveling for DJ-ing. Her very first Edit has just been dropped on SoundCloud. 

Her fruity and lively “Planter’s Punch” is the perfect summer soundtrack: groovy, dubby with funky elements. Please join us in welcoming Malin to the team!
