Blueprint for track that became 'Sandycove Milk'.

Inspired by wondrous music by Conin, whose track 'Kitty's Wake' reminded of the rich clay of Joyce's 'Finnegan's Wake'. This track, about the opening pages of Joyce's Ulysses, borrows coffee spoons, forever those of T.S. Eliot, in an effort to add sweet milk...drawn from the milk-well of honeyed Sandycove.  The lyric speaker is, notionally, Stephen Daedalus. For practical purposes, the lyric speaker is James Joyce himself. His aim? To hit Haines for a guinea [a pre-decimal unit of currency] before heading to France on a ferry. Whilst Haines still feels guilty (sheepish) about having fired his pistol at an imaginary cat he thought he saw in the fireplace in the Martello tower in Sandycove (now the Joyce Museum....a sacred...magical place, whose attendant Joyce scholars told me about the Haines' imaginary cat episode....it is all true...yet also dovetails eerily with the first chapter of Ulysses).

The reference to Haines having consumed Absinthe is a narrative fiction, invented to offer an explanation for his dangerous behaviour. No peer reviewed evidence capable of demonstrating Absinthe has hallucinogenic properties, exists, to my knowledge.

Biodiversity

Challenge was to make one of my shorter songs with one of my longer lyrics, so I 'had' to craft it into an amalgam of 9/4 and 4/4 signatures. Thus, it may feel crazy on verses but I hope also catchy on refrains.

Vision....

....well this one turned out to become a real vision.. hahha. Starting as a few simple piano chords, i was seeing more and more what i wanted to do with it and then suddenly, things were so clear to me! Time to dust off the mic and drink some raw eggs and get this singing started!

The vision is as simple as the lyrics and the idea behind that. Whatever you see.... you might encounter that people might not see the same thing and it really doesn't matter. You cannot "force" others into your own mindset and have to accept that. Instead of going for a conflict or becoming real emotional, rather live with the fact that we are different and others might not see and accept the "Vision" of yours. Will help you alot in staying sane. haha!

So..... stay safe... stay relaxed and the best thing to have other people see what you want them to see -> better start working on yourself and the way how to behave and transport that vision with others. Its all about peace and love. Life is short and simple, if you wanna "see" it that way ;)

From the musical perspective it really goes a similar path. Once you hear your stuff, create something you like, people might start telling you what you have to change to "sound" in a specific way. Well, the whole experience is about you creating something that is up there in your mind and it is your vision and your way and style how to put it together (not talking about a technical perspective here, more of creativity and how you wanna sound with your sound). Just hope it doesn't sound too ackward. Hehe

Vision

So.... finally.... this is it. Andrew Huang's #3. I never thought that i will be able to finish it...... The process for this one is really best to be described as "from HATE to epic FATE".

Number three even destroyed once more the way of how i "usually" and "naturally" proceed with things and do them, when it comes to creating and assembling musical structures. Especially, when there is a "vision" in adding vocals, or even go for a vocal track. I realized, that i did it not exactly, as shown and to be the applied method for this one, as presented in the course. Classic songwriting process from A - Z. Damn you!!!

As the timeline came closer and closer..... i found myself struggling so hard, but still was able , they kinda encouraged us to deliver whatever is ready at that point, to drop a final structure with all the basic core elements as raw as any "diamond" could be, mined deep under the surface in dark caverns....

Then the real struggle began. Course was over, but not this unfinished piece and my natural extremism, which did not allow me to leave it just as it is. At a certain progress you decide - trash it or do it for the sake of learning and finish that damn project! Then i recalled (hehe), and remembered a quote Andrew dropped at a certain stage in the course, which says like "to do something you like, you have to do alot of stuff you dont like".

Keeping this in mind, i took a short break to relax myself and get rid of the pressure -> course over, deadline ended anyway , so why go mad bro? Then the thing developed. I found myself being able to go more and more in the direction i imagined and went down to the rabbit-hole-like tunnel, dug up some more diamonds, back onto the surface, and then processing and grinding and shaping, until they meet the quality you want to have in your jewelry. 

No detailed numbers this time but again, big cred to my fiance for being so supportive and sustaining my sanity, while i still went full psycho mode on this one - but i had to, like for me, personally, this finished song number three is the overall end of this course and the way i shape msyself into music making and trying to make it as entertaining as possible. 

Money is not what I'm after, as this is my hobby, my other love in life, and even if you just don't like stuff sometimes , yet you love it deeply and it deserves that you seriously take care of it....... so here it is... i hope it is a good listen to you - enjoy this little space drama! ;o
