Eclectic Ecstasy Steve... What I liked is the melodic pauses in the guitar phrases, as some completely shifted direction with cool results.

For this one, I rounded up my fantasy band, the Famous Texas Men Of Note, to perform at the imaginary Seven Sisters Dance Hall, just west of Austin in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.  The crowd wasn’t huge that night, but it was plenty raucous.  Needless to say, we brought the house down.  We always do.

This song is both a lament for the current comedy-theater state of US politics & culture, and a satirical swipe at the actors involved..

As the world knows, the US will become a tyrannical dictatorship at the end of 2024, should its citizens elect the candidate some call Le Bete Orange. Mr. Orange, besides making himself dictator for life, will put his political opponents in internment camps, invade Mexico, write a new constitution, and shutter all news organizations except Fox News. Oh yeah, and make Tucker Carlson his Vice President.

But the smart politicians, and their legal & media allies, have devised an ingenious scheme to save us from this looming catastrophe, and the world will watch it play out over the next year. The plan may be illegal & immoral, but hey, the cause is noble & just. The process has, in fact, already begun, and though our saviors feign seriousness, their excitement is quite apparent.  Hell, I'd say they’re downright giddy.

"Jamming w/ Jazz Bass"

A little excercise that I finished today. I made this track originally some time ago playing a VST bass, but after I finally got a Jazz Bass recently I wanted to try to play and record something with it, and here we go! 

Played by me using sounds from different VST instrument collections (Rhodes V8 Pro electric piano, Native Instruments Komplete Now collection & Abbey Road 1980s Drums, UVI SonicPass collection). The bass was played by me with a Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass (Cobra Blue). 

Sorry about the mistakes with the bass.. But after I sold my beautiful G&L Interceptor bass guitar in the late 1990's it has now been maybe 25 years since I played bass the last time, and I'm practicing:) 

Especially playing with the correct timing and with right & consistent velocities was really challenging. I also actually played the bass line maybe too loud, so had to do some EQ'ing and stuff afterwards.

I like Soundcloud because it's a friendly community for sharing our music. When I like your music, I say how it affected me, maybe something about how you wrote, performed or produced it. I'm blown away by how many amazing artists are out there, so many folks who are recording their wonderful musical ideas, and doing it on a shoestring budget! I have a bit of a musical split personality, mainly writing music in two different styles: pop/rock songs, and jazz-rock fusion/prog instrumentals. Main instrument is guitar; I also play a Fender P-bass on most of my tracks. I am not a keyboard player or singer, but hopefully I can do enough to make my work sound ok.
