Techno two-piece Slam (Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle) bring the new double vinyl album Machine Cut Noise to the forefront next month Stuart and Orde's day-to-day proceedings consist of maximum time spent on the road, in airports and hotels; which also forms the creative hub for their music-making. It's this transitory state that largely dominates the vibe on Machine Cut Noise.

With each of the album's eleven tracks handed its own unique energy, this concept is probably depicted most prevalently in "Psalm". There is a deep emotional core found within this programmed 7.5-minute piece. It conjures a direction that 'has been paved by the machines which surround us'. A technophile's voyage into the unknown we strongly recommend getting on board with.

Machine Cut Noise comes out on 28th October on Slam's own Soma Records.

'Spiral' leads explosively. A depth plunge bass/kick combo surges us forward before rippling acid lines twist in and out of the percussive momentum. Total lava drama, there's a viscous, dark fluid like nature running right through to the final palpitating thump. 'Comet Encounter' takes an even darker twist; more spacious to make room for the bass-licked tremors, it mutates and morphs with tones and textures so all-encompassing they're borderline psychedelic. Sinisa Tamamovic returns to Mindshake once again with his 3rd EP for the label, cementing him as one of Paco Osuna's most frequented go-to soundmen in recent years. This time he holds nothing back.

The sure stand-out is the titletrack 'Green Light' with it's prominently rolling yet driving baseline and intricate percussion. It's spacey overtones fill out the track, making it a pure floor mover.

'Check It Out' gets a bit more heady, with perfectly displaced drum fills, change-ups, deep hits and a repeating vocal that gets in your head instantly.

Secret Cinema’s Gem Records return with two ice cold cuts by Serbian born, Berlin based, Patent Skillz label boss: DJ Lion. 

DJ Lion is a pioneer of techno in his native Serbia. He rose to fame with Richie Hawtin supporting his every release. He is an audio engineer and teacher and that reflects in his music. His Gem Records EP has a futuristic approach to dynamics with synths sticking out above mix, giving those raw sounds the energy in the mix instead of the usual kick drum. The two track EP has been a highlight in Secret Cinema’s sets for the past months with crowds going crazy for it.
