Wanted to write and record something for just guitar, bass and drums. I recorded the guitar track as a single take. You can hear my ham-fisted pickup changes throughout..I can only hope it helps make it sound like a live performance. I also recorded Telepath using my live rig. I hope you enjoy it!

Blue Circle is a 12 bar blues with a modern, descending chromatic twist on the 9th and 10th bars.  The fabulous Scott Nelson and I have teamed up to create this original music.  Scott's guitar is haunting, going from subtle to explosive, as he expertly navigates these contemporary blues.  My approach to the tune was more introspective, in the style of the young Herbie Hancock in the '60s with Miles Davis's seminal quintet.  So great to have Scott's musicality again on this recording. Surge of Current is the maximum instantaneous input current drawn by an electrical device when first it is switched ON. It is also known as an inrush current, input surge current or switch on surge. Inrush current can be as high as 100 times the normal steady state current.

I would like to interpret the title as "energy boost", a bit of exitement to cheer one up. I got inspired one day, playing around with some clean guitar pick up settings, cycling through some fusion chords, the rest came naturally as a result. On top of these chords I chose a more Jazz/Bebop like approach of playing a long and fast unisono theme over the changes. The theme basically stays the same while changing the comping, both in chords and rhythms. In general there are three sections to this, introduction and theme, solo section (I took two solos in a row ;)), interlude after which returning to the theme again and leading that into an outro...

Recently I have been playing a lot of electric guitar again due to this new brilliant (maybe to some old school) Fender Elite Strat HSS Shawbucker I got a few month back. A joy to play, with a large variety of pickup settings, generating a wide range of sounds. Exactly that I used to the full here with at points 9 guitar tracks running at the same time with different parts and sounds. Apart from that only the drums are programmed. Fun to do!
