Survival Mode

One of my party-pieces is to recite Robert Burns' ode "To A Haggis" from memory.  In 2024, I have publicly recited it 4 times in the course of the week that contained Thursday 25th January.

"But mark the rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread!
Clap in his waly nieve a bled; he'll mak it whistle
And legs and arms and heads will sneid
Like taps o'thristle!"

My tune is a little celebration of the Burns Night season in the UK in the 21st century.

‘don’t wanna feel’ is a song about when my dad left and the abandonment issues I developed from that, it was a really rough time for me at first but over time I realised that it was for the better after information about his behaviour was revealed to me, I still suffered from abandonment issues and I didn’t want my partner to leave like my dad did, this song goes between me singing about my dad and my experiences to the chorus talking about how I wanted my partner to ‘stay by my side, till I die’ I didn’t want to feel at that point of my life, it was a lot for me, this song is very personal and is actually my first full song :)

‘let go’ is a song about my experience with feelings of anger and resentment but realising that I need to let go of that feeling, however I just cannot forget the pain and hurt I went through, this song talks about how resentment took over me completely and how difficult it was to let that feeling go🤍
