Low:r - taking things high:r and high:r with every manoeuvre. A key artist on highly respected labels such as Galacy, Liquicity, Spearhead, Soulvent and Program, his funk-fired, soul-packed signature has become more and more of a prominent flavour on the drum & bass menu since his first release in 2016.

Rooted in the rudiments, Ben Downton has always lived a musical life. As an accomplished violin player, and a member of the West Sussex Strings, he performed in cathedrals and churches across the UK throughout his teens. Swapping the bow for the bass guitar, he then played in various bands before electronic music, bass culture and the allure of the studio took over his life. 

Inspired by the music’s strong sense of community, and driven to constantly rise to the never-ending challenge of production, he first cut his teeth as a dubstep DJ before he developed the Low:r alias you see and hear today. With a name taken from a factory test unit, and an industrial strength sense of ambition and creativity to match, the Low:r sound is playfully unpredictable and dynamic but consistently charged with a widescreen sense of mischief and musicality. This is reflected both in his scene-supported releases and his DJs sets, which have ranged from shows at the iconic Brixton Electric to the renowned Liquicity Festival, Holland.

With the bookings matching his ever-expanding sound, and spreading further around the D&B-loving globe, Low:r has become a significant member of the new-generation of artists pushing the culture into exciting new directions. With each release growing in size and scale, expect the Low:r sound to become more prominent as we move into the future. Let’s take things high:r.

Bio:

Cypriot born producer Alexandre Pavlou aka Phaction’s passion for music was founded through a love of drumming from an early age. He moved to Bristol in 2007 where his growing fascination for Drum and Bass music was catalysed by the diverse vibe and nightlife of the city. After learning to mix and playing out live with high energy sets he began craving a new challenge and sought a different medium through which to express his creativity.

His journey into music production began in 2013. Inspired by the sounds of the city and music all around him, his love ranges widely from classical and jazz through to film scores and even metal, which have become intrinsic in the vibe of his productions.

The up and coming producer has collaborated with the likes of GLXY, Hugh Hardie, as well as exceptional vocal talents such as Leo Wood, Charli Brix & Riya. After hearing his work, Total Science signed his music to their legendary imprint CIA, culminating in a 5 track EP that gained support from the likes of Goldie, Lenzman, Halogenix, DJ Marky and Foreign Concept.

His debut EP 'Hard Truth' on Metalheadz gained wide DJ support, with Aviatrix ft. Riya being picked up by Adidas to promote their latest Spezial clothing range.

Bio:
An artist at the core of the next-gen talent driving liquid drum and bass forward, Edlan has been turning heads since shooting onto the D&B scene in 2016. While still in his twenties, the Amsterdam-born artist has already played on major stages such as Liquicity Festival and Rampage Open Air, set up his own label ATNMY, and has been responsible for tracks garnering millions of streams including “Dreamcatcher” and “Whatever You Said”.

It’s a journey that started with Edlan becoming known for his dreamy liquid productions under the mentorship wings of Nymfo, but it has since seen Edlan grow into an artist exploring different music ambitions within the D&B scene. Characteristic of the next-gen crop of producers, Edlan adopts a flexible approach to the music he creates – never shying away from new styles or unfamiliar territories. That’s why his DJ sets will often surprise, and it’s the motivation behind Edlan’s more underground productions including “Tree of Life” and “Warehouse Tune”.

While some producers feel inclined to focus on one style, Edlan showcases a progressive attitude towards making music with an open mind, going where his inspiration takes him. And right now, Edlan is feeling more inspired than ever to create vocal music on a big scale –productions bridging the gap between the sounds of the underground and accessible music for bigger crowds. It’s a return to the origins of his music ambitions that initially hooked the interest of the scene – particularly labels including Liquicity, Pilot and Fokuz – and it’s a direction inspired by Edlan playing his music out at big European shows – experiencing crowd reactions like never before.

While there’s a beautiful sense of unpredictability to where Edlan will take listeners next, one thing you can guarantee is his drive to make music with emotional connection. The kind of tracks that tug at the heart strings with beautiful vocals, and excite with stripped-back, organic melodies and real instrumentation. You only have to listen to his debut Landmarks album in 2021 to get a taste of the adventure Edlan’s music can take you on. It’s the reason why the likes of Hybrid Minds, Etherwood, GLXY and Pola & Bryson are all keeping tabs on the artist right now.
