3 QUESTIONS to MARTIN EYERER:

Q: Your mix shows a huge spectrum back to the 1980s. Would you still play some of the tracks in your current sets?

A: Actually I am not such a big fan of dropping old „hits“. There is so much new music on the market, that is great, so I prefer to present more new or rather some unreleased stuff of myself, my labels or friends. Though there could be rarely one old tune in my set when it comes to the right moment. On another note: The selection for this mix is not covering my best 10tunes ever. There were so many milestones on the way to „how I met the bass“. Could have done 3 mixes more (if I had less work and more time).

Q: You´re a DJ for more than 30 years now and you´ve played in almost all parts of the world. Are there still any ambitious goals for you to follow?

A: The globe is big and there is still many places to see. I just saw a post by Dave Seaman playing in Pakistan for instance - and immediately thought „Wow, I’ve never been there". So besides of exploring places I want to see there are so many great venues and parties and its always a big pleasure to return. Last month I played a show in Cuzco - that was really cool just to be in a city like that and play my music! Before I played in Buenos Aires - Bahrein Club - and it wa say 9 or 10th time there but never enjoy less to play. Travelling and playing as a dj is something I couldn’t imagine to stop. The only thing that gets more tiring is the traveling itself.

Q: What´s happening in 2018 - which Eyerer projects are on the way?

A: First a few releases will come out: A new Collab with Markus Homm on Culprit LA, a new Kling Klong, new release with Ackermann on Ignite and working on a new Rejected and Bedrock follow ups right now. I am thinking slowly about a new Album project for 2018 but am not clear yet what I will do exactly. Needs to be a special concept I think. Generally I will finish a few started Collaborations with Gel Abril, Namito, Ackermann and Pan-Pot and try to spend more time in my beautiful Studio in Berlin Riversidestudios.

In 1986, when I set out to start a radio show - primarily as an outlet to showcase my own re-edit and remix work - Those New York Kiss FM shows were my main inspiration.
My first shows, on Parisian radios Skyrock, then nation wide NRJ, only had some sections that were mixed, due to the mandatory commercial breaks. Also, they featured an MC friend, doing most of the talking. From 1989 though, I was given a shorter one hour slot on NRJ, but was on my own, with no commercial breaks, free to present a non-stop mix.
The radio had a very mainstream top 40 format, but because my show was during low audience hours, they let me have my own programming. The content was mostly my personal selection of Dance and House music of the time, with a few older things occasionally thrown in. The show was eventually cut off the air in 1994, when the station was monitoring its audience 24/7, and didn’t want to venture away their Top 40 play list anymore.
Years later, with the burst of internet, some of my shows, as they were recorded by listeners on cassette started to surface online.
Some fans I wasn’t aware of during the show’s era, dedicated time and effort to gather more and more recordings, and compile them in a few discussion groups. 
I didn’t keep a personal archive myself, but thanks to the passionate work of a few of my original audience, more than 70% of the shows have been recovered, recorded off air, as they were originally heard.
Over time, I got to meet some of those listeners, who mostly were in their teens when the shows aired.
They told me the impact the music I played had on them. Back in the 90s, it was very difficult outside the few largest French cities, to have access to music that wasn’t mainstream. 
Being the Parisian I am, I only realized decades later, that those shows had a much further and bigger reach I ever imagined.
31 years later, thanks to the most dedicated fans out there, I’m able to present you with a selection of those shows. Some of the music there has stood the test of time, some has not. Take it as a time capsule of where my musical self was in the late 80s early 90s.
We have a few weeks of lockdown coming up. I’ll dedicate to post a new recording every Friday.

We're celebrating 30K subscribers with a special guest, a complete artist which over the years became a notorious DJ and producer in UK and across the world. Born in Wales, Harrison BDP has started listening House and Techno music since the age of 16 being inspired by his father's passion for dance music. The Welsh producer is known for showing a lot of influences full of moody basslines, crispy grooves and addictive vocals. He already started the year with a fresh vinyl remix for EverydayParadise crew and an EP with Berg Audio. We are happy to stream over one hour of unreleased productions from Harrison BDP.
