RIP Terry Hall.

I like this song very much. It was written by Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Gos and Hall, apparently following a brief affair, though I didn’t know any of this until reading about it recently after the sad news of Terry Hall’s death in December. I have never before inflicted a cover on the world and if my attempt here works at all I think it’s a demonstration of how a really good pop song can survive a minimal arrangement and a dodgy vocal.

I may end up having to take it down :/ but there are other covers of this on SC already – so something something Mechanical Licencing Collective something something something. Maybe.

What's this song about Dave?

This song is in the indie-electronic domain but has a certain jazz vibe with the bass. It has a not easily defined yet original flow and feel. It speaks to our societal and work related anxieties; always asking us to do a bit more, move a bit faster. We will Take That Hill the first time and maybe even the second..... but after that it's time to consider options.

The City

When that title slipped into my mind it was all go and the early verse work felt bluesy with certainly blue notes to sing. The chorus wrote itself around the title with jazz chords. Changing key to the variation was natural enough but quite a long journey back to the verse again.

ART IN HER BONES

Happy Hat

This is a song that JJ came up with on the electric piano and shared with the rest of us. He's done a significant portion of the songwriting for the Eclectic Collective, and always gives us quality songs, to which are easy to add our voices. When he sent it to us, he had a rough bass on there that sounded like Lust for Life. Ken came up with a killer and appropriate beat, which, if you can picture Lust For Life, included a lot of accentuated bass kicks. So, I took and went with that, and came up with a funky bass line. Ken and he kicked it back and forth a few times till they linked up. Then JJ added some funky ass organ and trippy retro synth to spice it up.
  Then it was time to send it to the guitarist. Tez laid down some smoking lead solos throughout, with his signature fiery guitar tone and amazing licks. Then Stephen funked it up even more with a fonky-ass wah guitar track.
  Ken produced and mixed this one for us, and what an excellent job he did, too. This was so much fun to create. We all hope you enjoy listening to our jam as much as we did playing it.

Hello again dear Listeners.  

Bless your soul for continuing to Let Go and Listen to our raw but heartfelt Improvisational musical conversations.  Tim and i thank you for your kindness, comments and reposts.

How we do it, we have no idea other than a lifetime of playing and celebrating 'the Music'... wherever and whenever it arises!  But one thing's for sure... better to creatively engage with the Winds of Change than to try to ignore them. ;))

This recording Session in 'The Living Room' happened on October 6th 2023, and we were delighted to get together again and see where our Muses took us. And again, our trusty ZOOM Stereo Mic caught it all.

And yes! The Autumn winds are roving the lands in the Northern Hemisphere of this awesome planet, and they never fail to Inspire and stir up ancestral memories of the long ago... and what's happening in the Present Moment! 

Tim reached for his Fender Telecaster once again, and i reached for my Kawai ES7 Stage Piano to express what we felt, and we hope that you'll both Resonate with, and enJoy the outcome of our efforts, at least as much we did.

December 2018 WHERE CIGARETTES FALL forwarded by Taxi.com to US TV music director. Latest 3 albums seek to marry singer songwriter Imagery with multi-harmony musical movement. 2024 FLOATING INTO WONDER and ECCENTRICITY SO BEAUTIFUL got airplay on a New Foundland radio station. Dec 24 FAKING IRONY and COLLECT the MOMENT have have gotten a foothold in Spotify.
