Commissioned by photographer Robert Jones and Middlebrow Books in 2019 to promote his book "Hitchcock's California: Vista Visions From The Camera Eye", Hitch! was composed as an homage to the films of Hitchcock and also as a tribute to Bernard Herrmann, the composer primarily associated with the celebrated director.

Scored for a string quintet of two violins, viola, violoncello and bass, this work can also be performed by a small string orchestra.
