Ignition Technician

Ignition Technician were formed in 1999 by Pete Simpson and Richard Wilkinson. With Wilko and Pete coming from Leeds, they were influenced by the music and up for it attitude found in northern England clubs such as the Orbit, Voodoo and Bugged Out.

They have worked through all levels of the club scene with Wilko working as a Sound Engineer for Cream and Bugged Out where he maintained the sound for many Djs such as Dave Clarke and Carl Cox who played many early acetates of Ignition Technician material.

After working at Cream for three and ahalfyears, Wilko moved to work as an engineer at the Orbit, where he has remained ever since. Pete completed a degree in combined electronic engineering and music where he specialised in Music Engineering and Production.Wilko and Pete have worked for Wedafuqawi (run by Ben Wills) helping to shape the sound and reputation of this relatively new label. Wilko has worked on various projects for the Pounding Grooves and Audio label. Wilko and Pete were able to involve themselves in the Punish label through long time friend and associate Mike Humphries who introduced them in turn to Glenn Wilson. This led to a collaboration between Glenn, Wilko and Pete, culminating in a succession of releases for Planet Rhythm, Template and Punish. 

Ignition Technician have also worked for Ben Long on Ergonomix and Potential, Billy Nasty on Tortured and Oliver Way's Urban Substance. Wilko and Pete also have a couple of recent releases on Player. Forthcoming projects from Wilko and Pete include releases for Pimp Records and new label Ignition Records as well a release on Highland Beats.

Greetings to all of you out there for another edition of the ESOA Podcast.
"Rhythim is Rhythim - Nude Photo" released on "Transmat" is an ultimate classic from 87' and another really great track with the "Detroit" seal of approval. 
My guest today was, if you like, in charge of it.
Everyone should know Thomas Barnett, but surely also some of his aliases like Groove Slave, Subterfuge or Four313, a project in collaboration with Blake Baxter.
Today, well over 30 years later, Thomas is still active and can look back on a countless series of productions and releases.
In '96 he was to found his own label "Visillusion" but over the years he has also released on a number of international labels. Here are a few examples Transmat, Novamute, Psychothrill, Submerge, Warp, Prime and many more.
But his productions are not only known for the club, also for commercials and movies.
I am very happy to finally present a first guest from Detroit.

Dans les années 90, Laurent et Natacha, avec leur tribu : les caverns tribe, organisaient des free party dans le sud de la France, du côté de salon de Provence.

Après qqs gav et un mouvement qui n'évoluait pas dans leur résonance, ils prennent la décision d'organiser toujours des soirées gratuites, mais plus encadrées.
Début des années 2000, ils s'installent dans le Vaucluse, et Laurent commence a évoluer sur la scène locale régionale.

Amoureux invétéré et défenseur des musiques électroniques, Lö Pagani est un artiste du Sud de la France, issu de la scène électronique underground. Influencé par la vague des années 90 dont il est originaire.
Maîtrisant totalement son sujet il est l’auteur d’un son Techno pur sans concession, avec un sens du groove dont lui seul a le secret. Inspiré par des artistes comme Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills ses prestations sont à chaque fois une véritable performance.
Actif il s’est illustré sur différentes scènes aux côtés d’artistes dont la réputation n’est plus à faire comme Chris Liebing, Jack de Marseille, Paul Nazca, Angy core, Patrice Moore, Patrice Baumel, Antigone, Vitalic, Scan x .
Il a également animé des masterclass vinyles aux sounds village du Yeah festival. Lö Pagani est connu pour son engagement dans de nombreuses causes, il intègre ​ DONATE Music ​ en janvier 2018 et est également co-fondateur des Pimousses Party,serial.ravers et du collectif Syndröme.

Natacha est coorga des pimousses party, elle a organisé 9 opus qui ont été une réussite.
Co-fondatrice également des serial ravers, Syndröme.
Elle met un point d'honneur à contribuer à la pérennité de la musique électronique dans la région où elle vit aujourd'hui.

Vous l'avez compris, c'est un couple unis par leur passion, depuis plus de 27 ans.

Ignition Technician is a techno production team from Leeds, consisting of Richard Wilkinson and Pete Simpson.

In 1999, Carl Cox was one of the first to discover them and played early productions on dubplates. Soon other DJs such as Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Joey Beltram, Billy Nasty, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Jon Peel and Colin Murry also played their records, which temporarily pushed them into the MTV dancefloor charts and brought them appearances on BBC Radio One.

Wilkinson is the owner of the labels Pirate Audio, Notorious North and Dj Special Needs. Together with Jon Nuccle and Mark Turner, he is also a shareholder in the label Player. Together with his studio partner Pete Simpson, he has already released over 150 records, including on numerous other labels such as Primate, Tortured, Tronic, Potential, Fine Audio, TechnoPassion and Planet Rhythm.

Ignition Technician has worked with numerous producers such as The Advent, Space DJ's, Angel Alanis, Glenn Wilson, Cave, Marko Nastic, Jel Ford, DJ Bam Bam, DJ Urban, Rino Cerrone, Mark Antonio, Mike Humphries, Trevor Rockcliffe, DJ Preach and DJ Misjah.

Ignition Technician has already played in Europe and toured Japan, Australia, Brazil and the USA.

Mathew Jonson brings lovers of all forms of dance music together. His live show is one of the best in the business: an elegant techno adventure with pounding drums and well crafted synths that endlessly twist and turn through emotional highs and darker physical depths. In short, he is someone as schooled in jazz as he is electronic synthesis. He’s a master of his hardware; a human who can speak through his machines. His meticulous approach also carries over into the studio and has given rise to plenty of underground hits on his own labels as well as a fine selection of others. 

His mix for us this week is a 90 minute recording of his masterful live set at Dekmantel 2017. Wasting no time in getting down to business, it kicks off with classic electro and from there the killer baselines just keeping on coming, some from his own back catalogue, some from outer space and some from the future. It’s a mix with a compelling sense of momentum and one that traverses sounds and scenes with ease.
