Evaporating

In 2013 there was another reoccurring daydream I often had that will always really stick with me - I still think about it pretty often. In the dream, I would be standing in the middle of a vast expanse with my girlfriend at the time, while she stared into my eyes with this loving, peaceful gaze. The dream always started in such a nice way, but there would always be this heart-dropping moment where she would put her hand on my cheek and I would suddenly squint my eyes and realize that she was very slowly becoming transparent. As I watched in horror, little particles of her would start floating off into the wind, and her skin would seem to ripple. As she faded more and more, her eyes always grew wide and a bright white light would start to shine out of them. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end just thinking about it now. In the dream, I always started grasping at her, trying to hold her with me, but my hands would just phase right through her body. 

The thing is, all the while, there was always this look of transcendence and peace on her face. It gave me this very peculiar feeling - it wasn't just that she was being taken away from me, it was that she was... conceding to it. She was willingly going along with it; like she had caught a glimpse of something far beyond me and she was transcending - moving on to something much larger. 

Regardless of the horror of the situation, as the last parts of her faded, I always felt a calm start to wash over me... this interesting mix of both sad resignation and peaceful understanding. The tranquility that comes from finally accepting loss. I knew she was going on to something so much better, and I was happy for her. That was the strangest part about it - the juxtaposition of such disparate feelings. The day I wrote this song, I woke up with that feeling thick on my mind, and I knew I had to get it out.

A recording of a magnitude 3.7 marsquake from InSight's seismometer, called SEIS. This quake was recorded on May 22, 2019 (the 173rd Martian day, or sol, of the mission). Far below the human range of hearing, this sonification from SEIS had to be sped up and slightly processed to be audible through headphones.

 المسرحية "سور الصين" 1946 يتناول فيها إمكانية ان تدمر البشرية نفسها تدميرا ساحقا بواسطة القنبلة النووية التي اكتشفتها حديثا.

أتحتقرينني؟ خاب ظنك بي؟ ماذا كنت تتوقعين
شكرًا يا سيدي.. أنا لا أرقص البوجي ووجي. 

أوه
كنت تعلم أنه أخرس. 
نعم
وسمحت بأن يُعذَّب الأخرس. 
سمحت؟
أنت يا من تعرف كل شئ.. هززت كَتِفَيْك، هذا كل ما فعلت؛ هز الكَتفين ثم إشعال سيجارةٍ أخرى، بينما هم يعذبون أخرس حتى يجبروه على أن يصيح، لأنك أنت يا من يستطيع الكلام تقف بجواره صامتًا!.. هذا كل شي. 
وماذا كان بإمكاني أن أفعل؟
أنتم بمعرفتكم، الزمان والمكان واحد.. يا للأسف! 
الموت الإشعاعي.. هه.. كم هو مثير! وسرعة الضوء لا يمكن الوصول إليها.. كم هو جميل! 
الطاقة= الكتلةx سرعة الضوء. 
مربع سرعة الضوء!!
وماذا نتج عن ذلك؟ أنتم بمعادلاتكم العظيمة.. هزُّ الأكتاف عندما يُعذَّب أحدهم، ثم سيجارة أخرى تُشعل؟
ماذا يمكنني أن أفعل إذا؟

أعرف أنه سيعذب كما عذب آلاف قبله، أولا خلع الأظافر، ثم الضرب بالسياط ذات المسامير، ثم عملية الزجاجات التي تمزق العضلات حتى لا يتمكن بعد ذلك من رفع ذراعيه.
ثم السلك المحمي، وأخيرا طاحونة العظام. وإعادة العملية من الأول حسب الحاجة. 

أعرف كل هذا، هئ.. وهو موجود حتى في عصرنا. وسواء كنا نبكي أو نضحك، وسواء كنا نرقص أو ننام أو نقرأ.
 فما من ساعة واحدة على سبيل الفرض، تخلو من إنسانٍ يعذب ويهان ويجلد ويقتل في زمننا .. 

هل استطاع واحد منا نحن المثقفين ذات مرةٍ أن يغير من هذا لمجرد أنه يعرف ذلك مقدما؟ يمكننا أن نؤلف الكتب، ونلق المحاضرات، المحاضرات الجريئة التي نتساءل فيها، أيمكن أن يستمر الحال هكذا؟!
ومع ذلك يستمر الحال.. هكذا تماما.
 يقف المثقفون، أعلى طبقة من المثقفين، ويخاطبون البشرية.

قنبلة الكوبالت التي نعمل على انتاجها، ستكون فيها نهايتنا. مع ذلك سننتج قنبلة الكوبالت

تنهيدة

معك حق يا ميلان، هز الكتفين ثم اشعال سيجارة أخرى، هذا كل ما يستطيع الواحد منا في هذه اللحظة

-هيا.. تكلم.. تكلم.. ألم تسمع؟ 

أأ  .. ماذا
ألم تسمع شيئا من خلال هذا كله؟ 
أخرسٌ يُعذَّب حتى يصيح.. حتى يصيح! 
إنسانٌ أعزل لا يملك صوتا، يصيح! 
وأنت لا تسمع إلا نفسك فقط.. لا أريد أن أعرف ماذا تعلم. لم لا تبكي؟ أنت بمعرفتك الخرقاء، لم لا تبكي من أجله؟
لا.. إنني أكرهك.

أنا أكرهك. 
وأنت؟؟ ماذا فعلت أنت
       أرى أنك قد غيرت ملابسك.. تريدين أن تتحولي إلى سيدةٍ معاصرة، ومع ذلك تتوقعين دائما                          المعجزة من الرجل. لقد كنت أنت أيضا هنا تماما مثلما كنت أنا!  

لم لم تنقذيه؟ تعذبتي وبكيتي 
هذا حقا، وملأك الأمل.. لكن بماذا؟!  بالأخرين.. بي .. برجل. 
ماذا استطعتي إذا؟ سواء كنت سيدةً أم رجلاً؟ فنحن الان بشر
انسان يقف أمام انسان

ماذا فعلت؟
ها؟
لقد غيرت ملابسك.. هذا كل شيء
