Violin Concerto No.1, BWV 1041: III. Allegro Assai (Arr. for Oud and Piano)

“Discovering Ukraine” – it is the first CD of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YsOU) that brings together young musicians from all over the country. The recording engaged the world renowned Ukrainian musicians and friends of the orchestra Valeriy Sokolov, the  KURBASY band, and a conductor Oksana Lyniv, and art director of the team. 
The CD offers pieces by two Ukrainian composers: Vitaliy Hubarenko and Zoltan Almashi. They represent two absolutely different epochs in Ukrainian music, culture, and history. Vitaliy Hubarenko worked in the second half of the 20th century. He lived and composed his pieces in the Soviet Ukraine, when an artist’s freedom of expression was limited to strict boundaries of “socrealism.” However, the composer’s bright personality shows in the choice of philosophical and general human problems that the author tackles in his works by means of very emotional, sensitive music language. Zoltan Almashi is an artist whose talent manifested itself only after Ukraine’s Independence in 1991. The composer’s style includes modern trends and features of Avant-Garde, at the same time, the use of genres and stylistics of previous epochs, and folk music.
At the same time, the tracks offered on the CD include some shared images typical for both composers. One is inspired by the folklore themes, filled with dynamics and energy as an embodiment of the ancient rite in nature’s lap. Another one is the domain of sensitive and tender lyrics concentrated in emotional and bright melodies.
