The actual album itself was released a week before the INFAMOUS 9/11 attacks, following which lead vocalist Tankian put out an essay about its fallout from a wide plethora of angles. This latest 2-in-1 BAD RELIGION tribute medley is a long-awaited request from one of my followers, who'll officially be stepping down from AnimeBoston effective this year as Assistant Photography Manager.  The first of 2 songs, fresh from the album from nearly 2 decades ago, 'The New America', this Bad Religion classic revolves around lead singer Graffin's recent divorce at the time; while the other was featured on the Japanese version of 'Stranger Than Fiction' from LONG BEFORE, despite being featured in Clerks (when Dante & Randal visited the funeral home and the latter character knocked over the casket within which the recently-deceased Julie Dwyer's corpse is contained; honestly, who doesn't remember that?!).

How's about this one?!: "By the way, Mr. Rooney... you left your wallet on the kitchen floor."  And this is where what I've got prepared comes in.  Arranged by ear almost a year ago, this was used for my "still-in-the-works" anime tribute for the iconic closing sequences when Ferris rushes back to prepare for bed before the parents barge in; and Jeannie finally turns the tables on their dean, Ed Rooney.

Usually, country and bluegrass aren't my bag - but it's about damn time I've made the exception JUST THIS ONCE.  Case in point...

Who could forget this old ditty from the '70s (after which this was covered numerous times - most notably by her granddaughter MILEY CYRUS, I might add), let alone what it entails?  In a nutshell, it's about the singer's titular rival who's trying to steal away her better half - thereby imploring her otherwise.

Hailing from their 16th and 18th studio album (in the UK and US, respectively) from roughly 4 decades ago - this was originally recorded in the late '70s as an abandoned reggae rock track for Some Girls - one of the Stones' previous albums around that time, "Never Stop".

It was then abandoned and reworked, however, under the tutelage of engineer Chris Kimsey at both Electric Lady & the ill-fated Hit Factory in NY, and was later used in various commercials - most notably Microsoft Windows 95 (also, who could forget that Bob Rivers parody?!) / Omega watches.

Original Song: The Rolling Stones (the ill-fated RS Records / Virgin Records / EMI / Universal Music Group, 1981) - under FAIR USE (NO INFRINGEMENT/PLAGIARISM INTENDED)

The Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up" (8-Bit Cover)

Although I'm not big on sports whatsoever - the iconic song on which this cover is based is commonly used for the New England Patriots' entrance theme...but I digress!  Hailing from his post-Black-Sabbath debut solo album 'Blizzard of Ozz' - Osbourne's song revolves around the fear of annihilation and anarchy during the Cold War, and is one of his best known and recognizable as a solo performer.  

Not only was the song rated 9th greatest guitar solo ever by readers of Guitar World magazine, it was also ranked 9th by VH1 on their 40 Greatest Metal Songs list and was named the 23rd-greatest hard rock song of all time also by VH1 in '09 - the highest placement by a solo artist on the list.  

Now...GUESS WHO'S FINALLY MANAGED TO HELM YET ANOTHER NES-INSPIRED REARRANGEMENT OF IT!!

Hailing from one of the most controversial VS fighters rivaling even WB / Netherrealm Studios / the ill-fated Midway's ever-popular MK franchise....except this was by the once-great-but-long-since-buried Atari, here's my usual NES tribute to Sauron's 'Red Beach' stage - featuring cues from its Genesis (the one I'm the most familiar with amongst many other ports) and CD soundtrack, "All the Rage".

Primal Rage - "Beachin' (Sauron's Theme)" (NES Version)

From their 7th studio album circa 1990, 'Violator' - this classic DEPECHE MODE ballad was first recorded 3 decades ago prior to the fact, thanks to its legendary songwriter's (Gore) initial, ballad-like version which was reworked into the finalized uptempo version at the whim of its then-backup vocalist/keyboardist (Wilder).
