Steven Canvas & the Slackjaw Jezebel is a collaborative music project built from a lifetime of shared stages, late-night sessions, and creative collisions. Every song carries the attitude, instincts, and talent of the many musicians Steven Canvas has played with over the years—distilled, reimagined, and reborn through sound.

The Slackjaw Jezebel is the AI incarnation of those players: idealized versions of real collaborators, subtly altered to protect their identities while preserving their musical fingerprints. These characters are not replacements for musicians—they are echoes, composites, and reflections, designed to capture what made each collaboration memorable in the first place.

All music is original. Songs begin either as full drafts recorded in a home studio or as professionally tracked sessions captured in full studios. From there, individual stems are uploaded into tools like Audime and Suno, where the arrangements are reshaped, reinterpreted, and finalized—often becoming something entirely new while remaining rooted in the original performance.

Slackjaw Jezebel is infamous for refusing genre loyalty and notorious for covering their own songs—rewriting, re-recording, and mutating tracks across styles, moods, and eras. No version is definitive. Every release is a snapshot of a moment, a lineup, a state of mind.

The AI characters are static personas representing the same four to six musicians; they evolve with each release, each reinterpretation, and each live or visual incarnation. Together, they form a band that exists outside of time, touring memory, invention, and reinvention—where the past collaborates with the future, and no song is ever finished, only transformed.
