Exilles is a project born from the alchemy of two minds, united by a common desire to undermine, compose and recompose raw, corrosive and dreamy sounds with a mystical and enigmatic imagery. They strictly perform live, orchestrating ancestral ceremonies with analog machines and modular synthesizers, whose dark and hypnotic sounds chase the persistent in a synesthetic atmosphere.

A millennial stronghold, where space and time seem to crystallize. Exilles invites you to enter the wide entrance, built with thunderous, corrosive kick and neurotic sounds. Proceed to enter a maze of tunnels, stairs, niches that emerge from the hypnotic sounds from the floor and clinging on to it, little by little, airy and seductive melodies, inviting you to go even deeper.
And then that telluric rhythms became more tight and you find yourself trapped, breathless, paralyzed: a crypt, a man. The face covered with a mask. The sound waves become ink and pervade the body, helpless, wrapped in a dream synth tangle. The assertive kick back lashing his shots, with the ritual ending. The crossing to escape has finally opened.

Am 19.7.1979 gegen Ende der "wilden 70er" in Deutschland, erhörte der Halbsamoaner Stephen Liuia alias "Steven Matai" erstmals den "Klang der Welt".
Als Stephen zu Beginn der 90er Jahre im Alter von 13 Jahren durch seinen Bruder mit der elektronischen Musik konfrontiert und infiziert wird, ist seine weitere künstlerische Zukunft damit besiegelt. Ein Pseudonym musste her und "Steven Bitters" war geboren. Unwillkürlich getrieben des 90er Acid Techno ist der 4/4 Takt sein ständiger begleitender Mentor und essentieller Bestandteil seines Lebens. Der erste Erfolg lies auch nicht lange auf sich warten. Schon bald wurde er in kleineren Clubs gebucht und erreichte dadurch eine wöchentliche Residenz  beim Radiosender „Radio Canale Grande“. Ungehalten verwirklichte Stephen  weiterhin seine Ideen und produzierte zahlreiche kreative und außergewöhnliche Tracks wie "Cold Water“, "One man standing" oder "Never ending Story", einer der ersten Releases auf OnPulse Rec.
Mit 23 begann Stephen parallel regionale Veranstaltungen zu planen, managen und durchzuführen. Mit lokal gebuchten DJs unterhielt er hunderte Gäste in diversen Underground Venues mit feinster elektronischer Musik. Für den Ulmer Szeneclub HELL plante Stephen 2007 das gesamte Monatsprogramm unter dem Namen SUBCONTROL. Hochkarätige DJs, wie der Schwede Cari Lekebush wurden geladen und von über 700 tanzwütigen gefeiert. Seit 2009 ist Stephen mitverantwortlich für ein 250 Jahre altes Fort Gemäuer in Ulm. Regelmäßig finden hier erfolgreiche Veranstaltungen statt. Parallel gründete Stephen dann das Independent Label samt Booking Agentur „OnPulse Records & Booking“ in Neu-Ulm. 
Trotz dieser zahlreichen Nebenprojekten, ist Stephens Leidenschaft für das DJing und Produzieren nach wie vor ungebrochen. Immer auf der Suche nach neuer evolutionierender Leidenschaft, näherte er sich in den letzten Jahren immer weiter dem Techno. Heraus kam 2009 ein neues Pseudonym STEVEN MATAI, und mit Ihm ein einzigartiger Bass-lastiger Technosound, unterstrichen mit tribalen Perkussionen eingebunden mit hypnotisierenden Elementen. Musik, die Ideen verbindet, Regeln zerstört und neu gestaltet. Ein einmaliger und sehr eigener Sound, was der Tanzbarkeit der Tracks keinesfalls im Wege steht. Mit seinem Talent verschiedene Stilmittel perfekt zu mixen, bringt er das Publikum energetisch und energisch zum Kochen. Durch regelmäßige Live-Performances in regionalen Szeneclubs wie dem SuCasa, Ego, Ohm, Kultbar oder bei Festivals wie dem Sommerklang, Electric Sea, etc vergrößert Stephen zunehmend seine Fanbase. Auch als Warm-up für Stars wie Marco Bailey, Paolo Mojo, Gaiser, Tony Rohr und Dustin Zahn machte er sich schnell einen Namen.
Was sich Stephen als nächstes als Ziel setzt, ist schwer zu spekulieren, aber eines ist sicher: ob als DJ, Produzent, Veranstalter oder Labelgründer, Stephen hat das richtige Gespür für seine Leidenschaft und somit kann sein Weg nur in eine Richtung gehen: immer stetig steil nach oben!
