This is my On The Floor At The Boutique Mix CD, released in 1999. I tried  (probably a bit too hard) to encapsulate every style of music I played at The Big Beat Boutique. So there's a bit of soul, hip hop, D'n'B, house and techno... I was too bloody eclectic for my own good back in those heady days.

Despite his huge international success with Smoove & Turrell and his ability to craft jazz, soul, latin, hip hop and funk into world beating dancefloor killers – he can still be found every weekend he’s not playing live jumping on a plane or a train to go and DJ in Germany , Russia , Italy, Ibiza or just down to Manchester,  Bristol or London wherever his diary tells him he has to go..

Wherever it is, his incredible skills behind the decks mean that he gets asked back and the breadth of the music seamlessly joined by his turntablist skills jumps from disco to funk, jazz to soul, hip hop to house and back again. 

The endless flights, trains and hotel rooms are dead time to some DJ’s but Smoove is always creating new tunes for his set on the fly and working his different influences into the remixes and productions he is currently on. There were at least 40 remixes that could have been  included on this album but in the end he chose the ones that worked best together and made the album flow like one of his legendary DJ sets.

The album contains a number of exclusives including the Smoove remix of the new Third Degree track and a killer smoove remix of Afrka Bambataa, Charlie Funk and King Kamonzi. The Smoove remix of Da Wiesel has only ever been available on vinyl before and his amazing remix of Electric Empire remains unreleased (unbelievably) in many European territories.

Smoove started his recording career for the legendary Acid Jazz label releasing two albums as a solo artist before signing to Jalapeno Records with partner John Turrell to release two hugely successful Smoove & Turrell albums. Their last album was playlisted extensively at Radio 2 and tracks from the album have been used in more than ten film and TV syncs – making Smoove & Turrell  the new darlings of the LA film community.

Smoove is touring with the Smoove & Turrell live band, recording the next S&T album, DJ’ing every weekend and he also just became a dad.   Where does he find the time ?

Bosq from Whiskey Barons is back with more heat for the dancefloor in the form of a double 12” release.

“Movin On” continues the formula of classic sounding dance grooves with heavy Afro Latin influences throughout on this special all instrumental offering. The first track "Movin On" (featuring Kon as a co-producer) is a deep latin disco funk tune with a hypnotic rhythm track, lush strings, percussive piano montunos and a horn section riffing somewhere between Fela and early 90's house chops. On the flip, "Keep Movin" is an extended mid tempo disco bonus beat grown out of outtakes from the a-side and 3 days stuck inside during a Boston blizzard. A bubbling rhodes line rolls over raw drums and percussion with a bouncy synth bass line on this head nodder.

I live in Newcastle in the UK I'm a producer and DJ named Smoove . Crossing all musical boarders in my own compositions and in my DJ sets by fusing Funk, Northern Soul, Hip Hop, Breakbeats, Disco and Jazz.
I DJ in the UK and Europe with tours promoting the late 2005 release of my debut album “Dead Men’s Shirts” on Acid Jazz Records.

2006 saw the creation of the succesfull my own label Wack Records including the first releases “Big Love” 

I released my second album ‘Gravy’ (Remixes & Rarities) on Acid Jazz Records in 2007 which featured the B-Boy smash athem “Im A Man”. 

In 2012 I released an album "First Class" on Jalapeno Records featuring various remix works followed by Recorded Delivery album in 2019.

Smoove and Turrell first collaborated in 2009 having released our first album “Antique soul” on Jalapeno Records and have released 7 studio albums including ‘Eccentric Audio, Crown Posada, Broken Toys, Mount Pleasant, Stratos Bleu & Red Ellen.
