From the beginning of SEKOIA, Fairmont has been one of the artists we've looked up to. To be able to share this podcast with you today feels like an honour. A podcast that appears to defy space, time and gravity, filled with filter twisted raps, biting synths, and basslines that not only ratter your bones but touch your very soul, Fairmont has delivered. 

Through the years, Jake 'Fairmont' Fairley, has delivered such high amounts of quality that these days, whenever you see something popping up that's got the name Fairmont on it, you can rest assured that it's good. From the legendary 'Gazebo' to the more recent 'Boa': it rocks. Taking it to his live performances, he puts the bar even higher, you'll know what we mean when you've attended one of his gigs.

As always, we have high expectations from artists doing a SEKOIA Podcast. This might be one of the best yet. On repeat! - FJ.

As a new year is waiting on our doorstep, it's time for our final mixtape of 2014. And seen as this is the very last one of the year, it needs to be a special one, a bit out of the ordinary perhaps. And, ideally, we try to look for somebody who is connected to Amsterdam and its dance music fabric. Fitting this profile perfectly is a man who has just celebrated his 30th year in the game. He has been at the forefront of Dutch techno, even helped introduce and consolidated its underground movement in the late eighties and early nineties, and has proven himself to be creative and foreseeing enough to still be incredibly relevant to this day. On new years eve, he'll be one of the headlining artists at 'Trouwens', Trouw's way of saying goodbye to the previous year (and to the clubbing era they create in the three days following January 1st). We're talking about Steve Rachmad, and you are gonna love this stellar mix by him, full of his own edits, remixes and original tracks. Enjoy, and we wish you a very happy new year!

Mentioning releases, remixes, or labels on which Steve Rachmad has shown his craftsmanship is pointless and time-consuming. So is boasting about the clubs and festivals on which he has left his mark. It would just make for another list of names, places, and brands…. Let’s not do that. Feel free to visit the usual channels (Discogs, Soundcloud, Beatport) and take your pick from numerous productions and DJ sets. They all come from three decades of dedication, sweat, and polishing a one of a kind talent.

Because as Miles had his horn and Pablo took to canvas, Steve has an unequalled gift for (almost physically) connecting with every thinkable drum machine and synthesizer out there. If the man had kids, boys would listen to Roland or Robert (Moog), and a girl would surely be named Linn, after the machine made famous by Prince and others in the 80’s. Some claim it’s analogue machine telepathy, others say he was born with all the right connectors and inputs hidden somewhere underneath his trademark curly hairdo.

This ability has established Steve as one of those artists that simply last because of quality. New generations of artists from different genres recognizes his signature and therefore play his work.

As a DJ he is constantly reinventing himself. Set firmly in the best that techno and house have to offer at the moment, Rachmad draws inspiration from his love for high quality disco and electro from the past. As words can never truly describe music, we’ll end with advising you to go check him out and hear for yourself what Steve is all about.
