For the 341st chapter of the Deep Breakfast Series, and the final release of the year, we’re truly delighted to welcome the one and only bvdub, presenting one of his rare DJ sets.

When Brock sent this over, we couldn’t have known how deeply it would resonate. Just under two hours long, it unfolds as a reflective journey: patient, quietly powerful, and emotionally distant in all the right ways.
This mix is rare not only for its depth, but also because Brock creates only when the moment and inspiration align perfectly. It’s not about assembling tracks; it’s about being in the right mental and emotional space, fully committing to the journey. That’s what makes this set feel so precious and unique.

Hesh is a traveler, in real word and music realm. Spending the last few years between Leeds, Brussels, Berlin and Maastricht and is now back in Brussels, Hesh studied music in depth, discovering a deep passion for environmental sounds. He approached electronic music starting from house, to then drift away to acousmatic music, soundscapes and ankle breaking techno. As a co-founder of @Initiate_concept , he also curates the Initiate Reflexions Podcasts featuring many ambient and experimental artists.

A welcome return to the series for our friend IKSRE.

IKSRE (I Keep Seeing Rainbows Everywhere) is the solo moniker of Naarm/Melbourne-based vocalist, violist, producer and sound alchemist (dip. Sound Healing Academy, Cornwall), Phoebe Dubar. She combines ethereal vocals with lush strings, bass-forward synths and sound healing instruments with field recordings, to create a unique, ambient, neo-classical pop sound.
She has released five albums to date: independently, with Constellation Tatsu (Oakland), Hush Hush Records (Seattle) and Lo Recordings (London), achieving widespread acclaim from blogs, Spotify official playlists and radio (BBC Radio 6, KEXP, RTE, triple j, double j, RRR, PBS-FM). She has also released collaborative albums with international artists on Ambientologist (NL), Past Inside the Present (USA), Stereoscenic (USA) and Polar Seas Recordings (Canada). She has performed at Strawberry Fields, Melbourne Music Week, Wanderlust True North at Melbourne Recital Centre and The Factory, Sydney, JazzLab, Peninsula Hot Springs. She also supported the Drew Barrymore Show Tour at Sydney ICC and Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Phoebe also facilitates group sound baths using a combination of Himalayan and Alchemy crystal singing bowls, gongs, hand pan, drum, chimes, Monochord and voice, including overtone singing. She also facilitates sound healing basics training workshops locally and abroad.
She featured in a dedicated sound healing segment on The House of Wellness (Channel 7) and as a guide for Endota Retreat. And in 2023, Phoebe released an 8 part Podcast, “What is Sound?”, featuring interviews with industry experts across the topics of sound healing, music performance, recording and the sounds of the natural world.

In this first weekend of February, as winter slips into a quieter rhythm, we welcome Submersion back to the series with a deeply immersive new mix.

"I made this mix using some older tracks from my collection, looking for deeper, textured ambient sounds to start with. I like thicker, emotive drones and pads, sometimes paired with sub-bass, and then field recs or other wide stereo noise in the upper frequencies. Toward the end I used more rhythmic tracks of mine, a few of which are unreleased. The final track is a collage of older source material that crescendos, drops off, and then simulates my tinnitus at the very end."

Deep Breakfast 349 ~ Dream Software

Some sets arrive, resonate, and quietly settle into the fabric of a series. Others move differently, tracing a longer arc.

Murkok’s contribution to Deep Breakfast first appeared in November 2021. As new episodes followed and the project moved forward, this particular set was inadvertently taken down. For a time, it lived outside the catalogue, remembered by a few, absent for many.

Today, it finds its place again.

Ilya shapes a journey of depth and restraint, built entirely from his own productions. Layers of texture unfold with measured subtlety, tones drift and dissolve into one another, and space itself becomes a compositional element. There is a rare sense of coherence throughout, a quiet luminosity that reveals itself gradually. The set unfolds as a continuous body of work, guided by a singular vision and a refined, immersive intensity.

Chrysalism 014 leads the listener into an experience that feels deeply human. Inspired by that intimate moment of being indoors while a storm rumbles in the distance, the mix lingers in the quiet calm that only exists because of chaos elsewhere. It carries the feeling of nocturnal stillness, when the world slows and something internal begins to shift.

Through his thoughtful selection, Owl shapes a complete emotional arc. The result is drifting, textured ambient that feels cocoon-like in its tranquility; a shared experience of storm and shelter, of silent metamorphosis unfolding in real time. A privileged, singular moment that exists only once in this exact form.

Episode 351 opens like a threshold, and this time it is Sheldon Drake who guides us across it.

From the very first moments, the atmosphere feels alive, elastic, quietly magnetic. Sounds do not simply follow one another, they gather, overlap, fracture, and reassemble into shifting constellations. The flow is fluid yet deliberate, driven by an undercurrent that feels both instinctive and precise. Nothing is static. Everything breathes.

As the journey deepens, layers thicken and then suddenly thin out, revealing unexpected spaces between them. Rhythm is not imposed, it emerges, pulses, recedes, and returns transformed. There is a subtle tension running throughout, balanced by passages of suspended clarity, creating a landscape that is at once visceral and contemplative.

This is an experience designed to be entered slowly, allowing perception to adjust and expand. Not a narrative to follow, but an environment to inhabit.

"I don’t look to music for soothing and comfort, or the solace of a cozy center. I prefer an outward vector, away from the familiar, into the strange, storms sliding on and off the stage, lost broken pieces clashing and combining, waltzing together briefly before they part forever. I make mixes to help people drift further into the jungles of their minds. One of my favorite possessions is my padded eye mask. I can be in a bright room, in darkness, with my eyes wide open. That, and good headphones, a nice couch, and this mix, and you should be sorted. Thank you to all who let me share this with you."
