Red Robin has found his way into electronic music about 10 years ago. A long journey through various types of music, including 15 years of classical piano, 14 years of drums and African and Brazilian percussion prepared him for a fast integration into the electronic music scene of Berlin. Since 2005 Red Robin has been the resident DJ at Berlin's number one afterhour location, the Bar 25. He then released his first record on the Cologne based label Platzhirsch Schallplatten together with his buddy Philipp Groth under the name Pachulke & Sohn. After this release the word spread quickly about his demanding DJ-sets in which he combines his very own style of swing with dark and deep sounds.

Defining his style, mostly through his unique mixing technique, has allowed various types of electronic dance music find its way into Red Robin's DJ-bag including minimal, straight techno, breaks and tomorrows sound today. After he did a remix with Aaron Hedges on D.O.C. 12, he got signed on Trapez together with his buddy Jakob Hilden. Their ‘Metro Gold EP’ was released in July 2007 and ‘Snapdragon’ was played everywhere by everyone. Ellen Allien even listed it number one on her all year charts of 2007. The ‘Tales EP’ hit stores end of November and the next release that came out was a remix Red Robin & Jakob Hilden did for Lucio Aquilina. With the Bar 25 sadly coming to an end in the summer of 2010 but already with other residencies behind his name (Arena club and Watergate), Red Robin has definitely built a solid ground for more successfull years to come.

Relocation is bound to affect people in different ways. For some personalities the change in cultural atmosphere becomes an intense inspiration and for others it’s a daunting beast, full of trepidation and embarrassing language barriers. For the brain behind Blue Hour however, it definitely feels like it was the former. In moving from the south west of England to Berlin, the producer threw off the shackles of his former alias and the associations it had built up. Diving in with a fresh slate he found encouragement from fellow ex-pats Sigha and Shifted and set about creating music inspired by his new experiences. Funding the release of four 12”s himself, his new music has connected with a lot of people, including the Hessle Audio trio who have invited him to Farringdon to perform on the techno minded Room Two lineup (he’ll be playing alongside Pangaea, Blawan and Henning Baer) at their full club takeover on Friday 5th December.

September, September, der Herbst steht langsam ins Haus und in Münster tut sich mal wieder so einiges. Grund genug für uns den Mann der Stunde für unsere zweite Ausgabe an die Regler zu bitten. Steve Stix gehört seit Jahrzehnten fest zur Münsteraner Veranstaltungs- und Musikszene. Unter anderem eröffnete er den ersten Münsteraner Plattenladen, veröffentlichte schon früh auf diversen Labels, pflegte zahlreiche Resdencys von Loveparade bis Nature One und betreibt bis heute erfolgreich eine Bookingagentur. Auch in Sachen qualitative hochwertige Bookings im Bereich House und Techno geht seit nun mehr 11 Jahren kein Weg mehr an ihm und seiner Monopark-Veranstaltungsreihe vorbei. Das den gebürtigen Schotten dabei allerdings nie kurzweilige Trends, sondern eher ein ganz individueller musikalischer Stil antrieb, kann man vor allem in seinen DJ-Sets hören. Mit kredibiler Leichtigkeit bewegt er sich zeitgemäß zwischen den Genres von House und Techno, nicht ohne den Einflüssen seiner langen Karriere dabei auch den nötigen Raum zuzugestehen. Das es Steven nicht mehr ums Rampenlicht geht ist klar. So kann er auch mal eben den 11-jährigen Geburtstag seines Monopark-Babys am 02.10 ohne Acts ankündigen und trotzdem wird das Event voraussichtlich schon weit im voraus ausverkauft sein. Das Steven sich aber auch nicht scheut der Stadt Münster etwas zurückzugeben stellte er unlängst unter Beweis, als er federführend mit anderen Veranstaltern den AIDLECTRIC e.V. aus der Taufe hob um am 10.10 das erste von mehreren Spendenevents für Flüchtlinge und gegen Rassismus zu veranstalten. Auch wollen das mit aller Kraft unterstützen.
Steven’s September Mix für unsere Reihe hat durchaus einen hohen Anteil an sphärischen Elementen, macht dabei aber auch ordentlich Druck. Schöne Mischung.

Wenn nachts im Klub am Dj Pult gar keine Teller stehen und auch kein Kassettenrekorder, oder noch wahnsinniger, CD Player, oder total absurd, 2 USB Slots für die MP3 Sammlung, sondern wenn sich armstarke Audiokabel zwischen gigantischen Mischpulten winden, ein Heer an Schaltern, Knöpfen, Bedienbedienern und Voltageanzeigen blinkert, wenn die PA ihr letztes Stündlein also schlagen hört, ja dann Freunde, sind Schleck^Stecker im Haus. Klanggewordener Montageschaum, Bassdrums bis zum anderen Ufer, Weltraumsound auf eine Rakete geschnürt, die auf ihrem Ritt durch die Nacht nichts auslässt. Schmiede die Crowd wie ein heisses Eisen auf dem Amboss deiner Sehnsüchte!, schreien die Sequenzer, ganz irre geworden von den unvorhersehbaren "Program changes", die durch das Netzwerk wehen. "Schleck ihn!" ruft die Bassabrissbirne, nein, "Steck ihn!" heulen die Sampler, immer an, immer dar, die nächsten Peitschen durch die Pipe zu stemmen. dahinter, am Gehirn sozusagen, stehen 3 hochmotivierte Mitarbeiter, alles ehemalige Ensemblemitglieder der Pubsburger Augenkiste. hier wird geflirtet, große Kübel Sekt verschwinden im Metabolismus der heiligen Dreifaltigkeit, ein Joint macht die
Runde, zehn. Ein Raunen geht durch den Saal, wer jetzt diese ganzen neuen, nie gehörten Platten rausgesucht hat, das klingt doch wie..., nein ist much heftiger. Die Mitschiffs einzige Möglichkeit, in den Genuss dieser Sounds zu kommen, besteht darin, zu diesen Sets leibhaftig aufzuschlagen, heisst es vielsagend aus der Homie-Ecke. dem soll hier nix hinzugefügt sein, ausser vielleicht, dass man sich hier, auf dem Freude-am-Tanzen-Poddie, auch schoma' n Veilchen holen kann. Cobra übernehmen sie!

Monopark Mixtape 014 - Franklyn

Steven McIntyre, born in 1975 in Münster, discovered his passion for music as a teenager at a British boarding school, where he immersed himself in various pop genres and electronic sounds. His journey into the music scene began in 1990 with an internship at the record shop King Music in Münster, which led to his first DJ experience. He quickly gained recognition, becoming resident DJ at the Cosmic Club and from then on travelling as Steve Stix. His first own events, with headliners like Miss Djax, Ilsa Gold, Steve Mason and Scooter, caused a sensation.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Steve's career blossomed as he performed alongside renowned DJs and opened his own record shop “Dundrum Records” in 1999, which was originally planned as record label. With residencies at Maria am Ostbahnhof in Berlin and Cosmic Club Münster, as well as founding Monopark events, he continued to create a stir in the electronic music, which had a major influence on the electronic music scene in northern/western Germany, especially for minimal and early melodic techno. He also worked as a freelance record critic for various dance magazines (Raveline, Groove …) and on the jury of the German Dance-Music Awards in 2000-2003. 
In 2013 he founded his own event and media agency, also dedicated himself to artist management and graphic design. His commitment to music production culminated in releases on renowned labels such as Traum Schallplatten and Stil vor Talent in 2023.
