Their revered Balance Mix Series (Established in 2000) has seen the likes of Max Cooper, James Zabiela, Kolsch, Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz, Danny Tenaglia, Deetron, Joris Voorn, Patrice Baumel, James Holden, Agoria, Phil K (R.I.P.), and more step up to the plate for one of the most essential collections across the entirety of the electronica spectrum, whilst Balance Series, their showcase for expressive tech, progressive and wider variations of house music, is a focal point of the sound. The latter has nurtured top-drawer releases from quality artists encompassing a plethora of upcoming and established acts. The award-winning Plastic Fantastic record shop ran from 1994 – 2006 and was famous for supplying the top DJs in the world. The label released many progressive and deep house classics which were hugely successful at the time, many of which still sound great today. With the progressive scene having a resurgence, it felt like the right time to start the label back up, cherry picking the best tunes from across the label and its imprints, with fresh remixes and new material: dark pumping progressive and uplifting melodic house with the occasional splattering of breaks and slower chug remixes. We already have lots of exciting releases planned with big artists lined up to remix some of their favourites so big things coming!

For Steve, DJing and electronic music has always been in his blood, his fascination for electronic music came about from his early child hood with exposure to synth pop bands Ultravox, Eurythmics and Japan and other bands with a similar electronic sound.  

During his teens Steve became aware of a new music that was taking the underground by storm, Hip Hop and it's Electro sibling. Steve's interest in these genres took an interesting new twist when he met a friend who introduced him to scratch mixing; from there investments were made in Technics turntables, multitrack recorders and drum machines -- the musical journey was well under way.  

In the mid to late eighties Steve learnt the basics of production with limited resources and recorded a few Hip Hop demos in a bigger local recording studio, taking rough ideas that had been created in the bedroom and then working them up in a professional environment. 

Then a November night in 1989 was to change Steve's outlook on music forever, "I had a lot of older friends who had been to Ibiza and came back with stories of amazing experiences in open air superclubs, some had ridden their luck and stayed the whole Summer, they were all talking about this amazing music scene and spiritual vibe on the Island"... 

Oakenfold, Holloway, Rampling and Walker came back from the very same experience and decided to try and create this special vibe back in London, Schoom and Future were born and the rest is History. "I remeber getting dragged up to Heaven one night to go to this night called Future, Paul Oakenfold and Nancy Noise were playing, the experience was profound and changed my whole musical outlook in one night." 

After that there was no looking back, the Hip Hop records got tossed to one side and House Music was on the weekly shopping list. "I seemed to have a natural gift for beat mixing. I don't know whether the scratch mixing gave me an edge in the learning process, but to me it was like falling off a log". 

By chance Steve met a young aspring DJ called Oliver MacGregor and a mutual passion for music sparked a friendship which would prove to stand the test of time. Oliver's involvement as manager at Plastic Fantastic records led to great friendships within the industry and an education in House Music and DJing.  

In recent times Steve has worked very hard to become a producer and engineer in the complete sense, from writing to mastering and in control of the whole production process from start to finish. His styles are influenced by good music essentially and cover House, Tech and Techno.
