Influenced by the acid parties of 88 and the summer of love 89 Ian James took up dj’ing and with a friend started to put on party’s  at various locations under the name So Groovy. Hooking up with Insane skates and various mates the Soundhaft-Heaven was hired and the party that followed was such a success that heaven offered  a regular slot on Thursday nights.  Forming a group of seven members ,including djs Charlie Hall and Simon Cross  , The Drum  Club was born in march 1991 and went on to become the place to be on Thursday nights , alongside Ian James  regular guests included , Andrew Weatherall Billy Nasty, and Darren Emmerson,.Ian James also regularly played MoS , Open All hours Loosen Up Strutt  And, Housekeeper (paris). Fast forward to present day Ian James has just finished a 5 year residency in Camden Town , and is currently on rotation at Prekend – Thursdays, playing dub and chill .
