Why Bam Vol 3 - The Chillout Session

Rumours were abuzz on the island.. word on the beach was that the mysterious Eggnut was to be the special guest DJ flying in to close the mythical secret festival known as Magic Beach. As a close personal friend of Eggnut I can reveal that he did in fact parachute in from his orbital satellite home, telepathically controlling the decks throughout the descent until crash landing right into the DJ booth wearing a ridiculous hat consisting of spinning disco glitter painted nuts that was hand made by a gaggle of gorgeous beach goddesses. He then blew the festival away with Rachmaninov level keyboard chops played live on a toy melodica over a mindblowing 3 hour set of blazing sunrise beats and beautifully layered soundscapes with a one eyed pirate rocking the egg shaker and TwinZilla rocking the mic . After 8 months travelling on different shores the memories of playing those wonderful parties of last season still linger warmly in my soul,  resonating across time and space the sheer joy and love we all created there together, so I felt excited to be back on my favourite beach in the world last week where I recorded this 2 hour mix. Opening with deep and mysterious delicately enveloping grooves and building into a vortex of pumping techno influenced progressive, we come to a gentle close with some warm and organic tropical influenced vocal house. Close your eyes and be transported… with the wind and the waves… back to the beach…

Why Nam Vol 5 - Back To The Beach

My first time playing at this perfectly formed boutique festival in Bulgaria was an unforgettable experience. Deep in the heart of the Rhodopes mountains surrounded by ancient forests and lush meadows blooming with spring flowers I played on Saturday night in a colourful moroccan tent once owned by Naomi Campbell (!) on a DJ booth we built out of scrap wood… and what a jam it was!! By midnight the tent was packed with the most colourful and sparkly happy dancing souls and what was supposed to be a 2 hour set was just too good to end and I end up playing 6+ hours until we literally ran out of diesel for the generator… 
Warming up with some soulful disco edits to soundtrack the gorgeous misty sunset and get the dancefloor grooving we then took a meander through some classic vocal house anthems before firing off some bass heavy bouncy garage bangers at which point the entire dancefloor literally exploded into squidgy fireworks of joy (or at least that’s what I remember).. Now that we were in full flow it was time to unleash some uplifting progressive techno and go full power into twisted bass and soaring synths, touching into some nudisco and deep house before touching down into my favourite genre, Island Bass..  
I’m sure I will be back at this amazing event next year.. but until then, enjoy this set which I think is one the best I’ve ever played.. and if this doesn’t get you dancing by the end then you need to check your pulse because you may be clinically dead!!!

Andrea Benini (Mop Mop) joins us with his Orient mixtape and once again takes a wonderful imaginary trip to a place which echoes and results in another deep musical trip. 

Mop Mop is the brainchild of Berlin-based Italian multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Andrea Benini. He has been active for more than ten years exploring a large variety of musical genres. Anyone familiar will already know that their refined postmodern style allowed the band to reach the international film business as part of Woody Allen‘s “To Rome With Love“ soundtrack.

“There are other places out there“  Sun Ra knew about these places outta space, Mop Mop now takes a journey from a mystical bright shining star called “Adhara“ to mother earth, being aliens from a kind of similar but yet different planet which they had to leave as they have destroyed and abused their ground, now in search of a new land. Looking at our blue planet from a different point of view. 

“Show me this place they call earth and let me land this ship“ says Anthony Joseph in one of the key tracks “Spaceship: Earth“.

After a short visit in Germany and 2 crazy weekends full of gigs and parties, friends and family I am now back in Portugal and finally found the flow again. 

Yesterday I recorded this set and then went out for a surf in the sun and made some nice diner after, while listening to the recording. 
Not more I could wish for.

Severin Onderka - Camper Tapes #3 | T..ho

Once upon a time, there was a party at the lovely Spot Cosy Hostel in Cluj... a party that nobody knows, but where everybody goes...
The Hostel became my second home over the last years, when in Cluj. I think I slept in every possible room there and felt always like home . It's located in an old Vila near downtown with a fantastic garden in the backyard. The guys behind it, also hippie - at least in their hearts, are close friends of mine. Even more, I felt grateful when they asked me if I would come and play at a party they wanted to throw in the Hostel. It was so much fun playing for - and partying with- all the old & new friends.
Thanks a lot to the Hostel Crew for having me- once again and the wonderful crowd for that never ending energy <3

An artist with a difference, Stevie Keys is an accomplished DJ who draws on his classical background to perform live piano over his sets, as well as a renowned producer with a history of releasing house music going back 20 years. You might not realise it but if you’ve been on a dancefloor in recent years you’re likely to be familiar with Stevie’s production as his original tracks have been released on some of the hottest labels around, licensed to over 100 compilations worldwide and supported by the world’s biggest DJ’s, such as Carl Cox, Pete Tong and Armin Van Buuren.

Born in Australia and always obsessed with music, Stevie Keys first trained as a classical pianist, before moving on to study sound engineering and completing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. By the age of 18 he had a record deal as a solo artist and had performed all over Australia, supporting artists such as Bjork and The Prodigy on their tours of the Southern Hemisphere.

Moving to London at the age of 19 he went on to record under various artist names including Antartica (for seminal UK dance label React), Altitude (Bonzai Records/ Sony), Sound of Soho (with Eye Industries/ Universal) and Tremor (for the influential Progressive House imprint Platipus).

Some career highlights include cowriting songs with legendary artists such as Nile Rodgers & Bernard Summers, remixing for the likes of Sia, R Kelly and James Holden, hosting a weekly radio show on DI.FM (one of the pioneering internet stations for electronic music) compiling and mixing compilation albums such as The Art of Chill (Sony) and producing several underground club hits that broke into the UK singles chart and were subsequently licensed to major labels such as Sony and Universal.

Now resident in Koh Phangan, Thailand which is famous for the Full Moon Party but is also becoming a popular destination on the international DJ circuit. In 2015 he created the now legendary Why Nam day party, before moving on to found Bambu Huts, which is fast becoming one of the most popular music venues in Thailand. 

Finally settled in this tropical island paradise after years of travelling the world, Stevie Keys is the resident DJ/ musical director of Bambu Huts, where he created The Sunday Session in 2023. This weekly event quickly established itself as the premier party on the island and is famous for having a distinct & sophisticated sound focused on afro, organic & deep house. Here Stevie plays extended sets with live musicians every week alongside illustrious guests such as Chus & La Santa (Redolent/ Stereo Productions), Djuma Soundsystem (Iziki Global), Igor Marijuan (Akasha Ibiza), DJ Ino (Cafe de Anatolia), Rezident (Anjunadeep) and many others.
