I wrote this song when I had a mixture of emotions—both joy and grief. My Opa died last month, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. When I heard, I grieved the loss of my grandpa, but I also celebrated; I knew that he loved God, and had been ready to go for a while. I was able to celebrate the lessons he’d taught me, and be quietly thankful for his long, faithful life. 

Getting old sucks. Death sucks. But there is no better joy than Jesus—that’s a lasting hope that makes me want to dance even when the world gets very confusing.
