Lovin' The Orbit from the album Make Pictures With The Sound.

The release title is inspired by a quote from legendary British music producer John Leckie, whose voice guides us into the album on opening track 'Beautiful Satellite'. With this album the Saafi Brothers do just that; make pictures with the sound, taking us on a breathtaking journey through their universe of sound, spiralling out from their deep roots in the Psychedelic Dub genre.


Keeping alive the Saafi Brothers’ reputation for chilled out eclecticism, the musical and emotional range for which they are renowned is very much in evidence here. From the rainforest tinged Dub Funk of ‘Ritualized Space’, through the epic deep Techno Sci-Fi soundscape of ‘In Far Away Places’ to the wigged out Acid House of ‘The Possibility of Change’, the album has much to offer for any connaisseur of contemporary Electronica.

Electronic  Convergence - Verdant Session - April 2025

I hooked up with Jus-Ed recently, spending some quality time in deep conversation and deep music.   He graciously hosted my dig at his UQ vault (Box 32, Schöneberg) and i surfaced some hours later, very content and bagging  records used in this mix.   A memorable session, notable for the boutique personal service, tasty coffee and shared experiences.  

If ever in Berlin, a hook up with @jus-ed is essential ...just keep it real!

Vertex is a label collaboration between Verdant Recordings [Andy Green] & Exalt Records [Jamie Bargeman] releasing underground electronic music across the deep spectrum.   

Our fourth release is from the studio of Havantepe (Ismail Genc) highly regarded and loved for his elegant, meticulously produced deep techno that has been moving dance floors and satisfying discerning minds for the last 2 decades.   His collectable and prized records have been released by Baum, 200, Grounded in Humanity, Berg Audio, Luck of Access and of course several tracks & remixes on Verdant Recs.

Rain on Window was conceived when Andy and Ismail finally got to hang out in  Istanbul a couple of summer’s ago.  There are 5 tracks on the vinyl and a bonus tracks appears on the digital release.  Overcast is sublime, emotional electro based percussion layered with signature Havantepe feels and melodies.   For Rain on Window and Condensation the bpms are taken higher for head down dub techno stompers.  Verdant regular Stojche contributes a brilliant version of Rain on Window, acknowledging the truest flavours and spirit of dub editing.    Insiders Ulf & Ralf make their debut vinyl appearance with their atmospheric bealtess, ‘Cloudburst’ reconstruction of Overcast.

Technos for Totoros

The Real Techno Group recently hosted this mix from me .......

Blurb.....Andy has been collecting electronic music and dancing into the mornings since the late 80s.  He's the ears and energy behind Verdant Recordings, a label supporting diverse music from new and established producers since 2016.  Latterly he teamed up with Jamie Exalt for their Vertex side project.   When "Overcast" from the forthcoming Rain on Window EP by Havantepe left a notable impression on the Real Techno group, Andy offered to record a set around this flavour of  techno - a sweet spot for his tastes in deeper sounds.  As Ulf & Ralf with a close friend, he's been dabbling with some productions and they contribute a remix on the Havantepe EP alongside Stojche.

"We don't get the benefits of a regular rub down as we used to, but when it happens, it remains a bit of a treat. The chaos of the early discogs forums introduced us over 20 years ago but also because we shared a love of proper deep music and the high life. We've done some Estimulo Shows, SUNK parties (with Chris) and many lost all nighters together before trajectories diverged. This one was a recent Saturday night, just winging it whilst quaffing notable Italian Reds. Its mildly amusing to me (Andy) that this recording leans into Dub Techno, a genre for which Truly has peculiar aversion to… and yet we are left feeling for dubby chords, swirling delays, some elegiac melodies and our passion for the proper tunage......one more rider?"
