After his huge success with Memories of the Future Philipp is back with his new EP on Bondage-Music. Although he was pretty successful with a broader audience in the last months, Philipp still keeps his productions in the underground. With Who Is Who he delivers a rather techy stomper that sounds raw and analogue while fresh and modern at the same time. Pokerflat's and Bedrock's Stelios Vassiloudis delivers a very functional and contemporary interpretation of this song. In field tests, his remix was a sure shot when the dance floor needed to be filled. Make It Last is a rather deeper house track, that hypnotizes the listener with a laidback dubby synth arrangement and soft kicking beats. The very talented Swiss producer and Dj duo Sous Sol made a remix that opens up the heart of the house heads who are looking for tracks that play with the genre boarders. Definitely a must play. Fresh names to Visionquest, but certainly not new to the game; More Than Material is the promising new project between two bonafide French selector statesmen who collectively boast decades of dancefloor and studio science: Jedsa Soundorom and Gauthier DM. Launching their new alias earlier this year on Zingiber Audio, their signature has been tangible from the off; deep weighted grooves, warm dynamics and total immersion.

'Intimate' says it all; realising its title's close connotations with a dubby, physical groove and a rollcall of soul rolling elements, it's the sound of a crowd locking in en- mass. Low ceiling, heads down, lights low. 'Godsa' follows with similar moody momentum and another hypnotic weave. This time over much more of a stately techno noir soundscape as its persistent jack is laced with subtle acid details. Next, we hit 'Doctor High', an ageless deep house groove peppered with nuances of uplift, trippiness and a drum arrangement that taps deep into the foundations. Once again, the track relives its title's implications.

Finally, we sign out with a precision revision from Fuse resident Archie Hamilton who refixes the pace and density of 'Doctor High' with more of a driving peaktime aesthetic that remains fully respectful of the original's weight and clarity. More Than Material by nature, spirit and name.

An outlet founded originally to release his own productions across the house and techno sphere, Butane’s home imprint Extrasketch now houses an extensive body of work from the San Francisco-based talent.  The catalog has heretofore displayed the expansive depth and range of his solo musical stylings across the electronic spectrum as it enters its third year. Having now recently welcomed longtime friend Andras Toth as the first guest collaborator on the label, we see Butane continue to open the label to collaborative efforts here as he pairs up with regular studio partner Riko Forinson following their releases on Deeperfect, Little Helpers, SCI+TEC, Lapsus, and Moan.  With this, the duo reveals a selection of darker collaborative club cuts in the form of ‘Equilibrium’. 

A far-reaching package containing eight tracks, ‘Equilibrium’ offers up Butane and Riko’s most extensive body of work to date; one which is impressive throughout in its diversity of atmospheres.  From the blossoming, emotive sequences of the opening piece ‘The Sad Song’, through the more melodic territories found in ‘Riffraff’ and ‘Get Into My Groove’, the release uncovers a collection of works that span both genres and moods, while focusing on the overarching Extrasketch ethos of delivering functional and quality club records.  ‘Primadonna’ offers a hooky, driving tech house workout with a damaging bassline.  ‘Anxiety’ strips things back to focus on delicate melodies, hazy atmospherics, and somber psychedelic reflection.  ‘All In My Head’ incorporates Butane’s trademark subversive, tripped-out vocals, before the duo wraps up the EP with the slick floating textures of ‘Tripping’ and the sparse, infectiously appropriate closer ‘Inside’.  Butane & Riko Forinson in fine form indeed.

Following his beautiful ‘Detroit Sunrise’ EP on the label last year, the inimitable Sascha Dive returns to Bondage Music once again for another deep frequency encounter.

The safe word is bass as Sascha picks up where he left us with two ‘Dub Chronicles’ tracks on the previous release. Now comes the third; a lavish, unhurried exploration ‘Dub Chronicles 3’ lights the fire with hazy, hypnotic charm and a spoken word well known to those familiar with the foundations.

What follows is a trip that grows in intensity and emotions. ‘Cornerstone’ is a beautiful 11pm track; fleet of foot in the kick department and arms aloft in the vibe department. Total elevation. ‘Ancient Tribal Drums’, meanwhile, takes us much deeper into the night. That rolling conga line will tie you up just the way Bondage likes it while the dubby echoes provide sense-tingling relief… Before the finale takes us to even dreamier heights. Living up to its name, ‘It’s A Groove’ brings the elements of the whole EP together; the dubby hypnosis, the warm, driving beats and that unique sense that you’re not quite tied into any reality while Sascha plays. The chronicles continue…
