Lock & Key #7 (June 2021)

S3RHUM is a DJ and Producer on the Parisian scene, passionate about techno of all kinds, he oscillates between Indie Dance, Afro House, and Melodic Techno but it is in the Ethereal and dark style that he asserts himself the most. True digger, he is always on the lookout for some serious percussive banger to play in his sets. S3RHUM is A&R for newborn TM&Y Records whose track “Perseverance” is on the “CONNECT” VA Compilation. He has also recently signed an EP with his friend Amirali Shakoori on  the Mexican label Arkhamra "Helladise".

S3RHUM is also a party organizer with the Parisian collective Techno Me And You, he has notably performed alongside renowned artists such as SOEL, Coeus, VNTM, Innellea & Bog.

Clocking in at first position on the triad’s debut volume, label habitué Sam Shure serves up a hi-pressure, Middle-Eastern-flavoured club epic for the opener. Oozing a strong mix of frankincense, myrrh and thick-boned EBM-friendly punch, the track reels out as a hypnotic fractal tailored to catch everyone in its sticky web of bass-heavy gimmicks. Back after their debut LP, “Symbiosis”, released earlier this year on SVT, Buenos-Aires outfit Brigado Crew joins forces with Ubbah on a monster vocodized chugger headed for outer space.

SKALA follows up with the deeply atmospheric “Voices of Eqi”, a track merging brooding spectrality, obsessive synth hooks and truly pumping dynamics. Longtime friends and collaborators Hidden Empire contribute a slice of their instrumentally rich and nuanced buildups with the hair-raising “Baba Ghanoush”, whilst Arnas D & Lake Avalon treat us to a feverish roller-coaster of a tune with the earwormy “Cordial”, all in muscular bass arpeggios, pop-infused vocals and nostalgia-drenched melodic counterpoints. 

Shifting the scope towards more syncopated material, Aurka’s “Pyrolisis” sends us off into upper spheres of consciousness with a sensitive melange of keen distortions a la James Holden and Border Community fam alike, and further spacious, non-formulaic minimalism. A straight-out club-focused affair, Henri Bergmann’s "Mercura” aims for nothing but to trigger utter communicative ecstasy amongst ravers and dreamers, whereas the opening episode’s closer “Deion”, courtesy of Boy Next Door, cranks up the speed a notch further with its fast-hitting deployment of stadium-sized synth lines and end-to-end hectic, yet erogenous crescendo.

Boy Next Door - Deion  [Snippet]

Born and raise in Tehran, Iran, MANTi was introduced to music at a young age. She grew up imitating pop stars and learning the choreographies to her favorite songs. She loved dancing and was always looking for an excuse to host parties so she could play the latest tracks and share her love of music with her friends.

Throughout the years https://soundcloud.com/mana-n listened to different music genres including traditional Persian music, Classic and Alternative Rock, Hip Hop, R&B and Rap. Sha was introduced to Electronic music in her teens. Living in a country where alcohol, dancing and nightclubs are forbidden MANTi learned about electronic music at private hosted by her friends. Shas was instantly attracted to the deeper, darker sound of this genre and started collecting tracks.

During her time at school, MANTi spent most of her time making music and collaborating with other students. In 2018 she decided to create a		
platform where she could showcase her dep, hypnotic sound and work		
with other producers, which led to the launch of her record label: Synchrony Records. It was not until she move to the U.S. in 2009 when she began going to raves and warehouse parties. The experience had a profound effect on her, making her want to learn more about the underground scene. She wanted to be part of the creative process of making music, hence in 2016 she enrolled in Point Blank Music School in Los Angeles to study Music Production and Sound Design.

Later on in the same year, MANTi founded NXT ENTERTAINMENT. An underground event series inspired by the after hours scene in Europe. NXT's mission is to host and cultivate quality music from around the
world and nourish the thriving, multicultural underground scene in Los Angeles.
Residing in sunny California, MANTi continues to explore the different layers of sound while perfecting her music. She is currently working with the best in LA's underground scene to bring Europe's rising Techno starts to the States, and promote hypnotic, melodic Techno. Some of the artists who have played at NXT events are: Mind Against, Adriatique, Kevin de Vries, Mathame, Ae:ther, Denis Horvat, and Trikk.

"The 29th release of Infinite Depth is called 'Origine EP' by bastinov and it's a massive one. There are five diverse originals by the Italian, who returns on the label after a remix in 2019 and an original on 'The Second Milestone'. To bring this EP to another level there are two impressive artists contributing to the EP with a remix. First, it's an honor to announce the Italian Paride Saraceni debuts on the label with a remix of the title track and another remix is done by great producer and the label's friend VNTM.

The EP starts off with 'Azimuth'. A gloomy and very minimal track with crispy atmospheric layers, which bring you into a hypnotic trance.

This hypnotic trance got set through in VNTM's remix. In the remix he perfectly managed to maintain the vibe of the original, while turning the it into a firm and dark techno track. Something you don't hear that much these days.

The EP continuous with 'Several Minds'. This is a very conceptual track with an unusual sounding main lead. Beneath this lead sometimes a heavy and low saw gets through. This combination is a perfect example of what makes bastinov special.

This authenticity is also shown in the sound design of the title track 'Origine'. A sensitive synth is telling you a story, which got strengthened by a tight groove and dreamy pads. This makes it an emotionally charged track and a real highlight.

In his remix Paride Saraceni took this main lead and surrounded it by a more driving lower part. Besides, he brought another uplifting dimension to the pads. This all comes together in a rock-solid mix. One for the clubs, as well as the big stages.

The sixth track is called 'No Regrets'. It has an aggressive, but still sophisticated and slightly soft, character. The melodic part of the track is very mysterious. This combined with the growling lower part makes the track perfect for a warehouse environment.

The energetic final track of the EP,called 'Attitudine Mentale', is the perfect breakbeat closing track of this pack. The synths are conserving the dark vibe, around which a pretty harsh breakbeat and a magnifying one shot vocal are very well constructed. Leaving you in full ecstasy."
