We’re very thankful that Joseph is keeping us in the loop with his productions since quite some time now. Many of his tracks fit in our sets perfectly and it has only been a matter of time to work on a release for Siamese. Eventually the 'Episode 8' EP was born and we’re happy to showcase his diversity in musical writing. 

'Episode 8' was the first song that caught our attention and set the foundation for this release. It felt like the perfect follow up to Joseph’s 'Eavesdrop', released on the 20 Years Cocoon compilation earlier this year. One of our very few shows in 2020 at Caprice has been the final testing ground for 'Episode 8' and the like-minded 'Cobalt'. Both tracks deliver plenty of energy for the dancefloors that we all miss so much and we can’t wait for you to hear these two on a big sound system. The eponymous track possesses a unique and trippy composition that builds and multiplies in intensity before the break circles back to a burst of synaesthesia-inducing array of colors. 'Cobalt' is slicing through its 7 minutes with a driving baseline and a very unique sounding synth stab, an idea perfectly executed and without any unnecessary features. 

On a slightly different note we got 'Sheen' and ‚Righteous' rounding off this EP. While 'Episode 8' and 'Cobalt' ask for being played on a festival or dark sweaty club, these two call attention with a softer sound design and smoother melodies. They will also work just great on the dancefloor but also have a certain listening feel we found very appealing when finalizing the release. All in all a fantastic package that we hope you will enjoy as much as we do!

Clocking in at first position on the triad’s debut volume, label habitué Sam Shure serves up a hi-pressure, Middle-Eastern-flavoured club epic for the opener. Oozing a strong mix of frankincense, myrrh and thick-boned EBM-friendly punch, the track reels out as a hypnotic fractal tailored to catch everyone in its sticky web of bass-heavy gimmicks. Back after their debut LP, “Symbiosis”, released earlier this year on SVT, Buenos-Aires outfit Brigado Crew joins forces with Ubbah on a monster vocodized chugger headed for outer space.

SKALA follows up with the deeply atmospheric “Voices of Eqi”, a track merging brooding spectrality, obsessive synth hooks and truly pumping dynamics. Longtime friends and collaborators Hidden Empire contribute a slice of their instrumentally rich and nuanced buildups with the hair-raising “Baba Ghanoush”, whilst Arnas D & Lake Avalon treat us to a feverish roller-coaster of a tune with the earwormy “Cordial”, all in muscular bass arpeggios, pop-infused vocals and nostalgia-drenched melodic counterpoints. 

Shifting the scope towards more syncopated material, Aurka’s “Pyrolisis” sends us off into upper spheres of consciousness with a sensitive melange of keen distortions a la James Holden and Border Community fam alike, and further spacious, non-formulaic minimalism. A straight-out club-focused affair, Henri Bergmann’s "Mercura” aims for nothing but to trigger utter communicative ecstasy amongst ravers and dreamers, whereas the opening episode’s closer “Deion”, courtesy of Boy Next Door, cranks up the speed a notch further with its fast-hitting deployment of stadium-sized synth lines and end-to-end hectic, yet erogenous crescendo.

Grum’s broadcasts from the ‘Deep State’ go live.

Continuing to redefine and reinvigorate the sound of trance and progressive music, Grum finally pulls back the curtain on ‘Deep State’, his brand new artist album out now on Anjunabeats.

Reflecting the unsettling times we live in, ‘Deep State’ has moments of light and dark. It’s a showcase of Grum’s ability to craft pitch-black progressive and immersive vocal pop. The 10-track album is a refined take on the current state of progressive trance.

With tinges of classic trance and 90’s rave culture across the record, Grum embraces vintage dance floor ideas in a thoroughly modern way.
