Society is in crisis - and we need guidance. The Phantom Whistler is the Australian mystic and gun for hire blazing trails across the untamed Wild West.

He was last seen as one half of The Lone Wranglers, a duo dabbling with psychedelia and deep house rooted in ‘Way of the Cowboy’ ('one of the most creative albums of the 2020' — Electronic Groove). This time he rides solo, unleashing a modern spaghetti western that dares to ask questions.

Uone has graced us with a modern rarity: a 15-track full-length concept album, ‘Phantom Whistler’, that pays homage to the Wild West.

Across Phantom Whistler you'll find a cinematic saga. Mind-expanding house and warm electronic ambience transmit with pacifying effect, and Uone juxtaposes moments of solitude and calm with a spiritual groove to preach a righteous truth. It's an organic sound, one leathered in the sun and rinsed in the open plain rivers.

Provocative guitars, harmonicas and indiscriminate field recordings are pulled together by the outlaw's call card: a clear, crystallised frequency; a whistle born during cold nights next to warm campfires. Make no mistake: this right here is an aural tonic, a soundtrack to the greatest medicine ceremony ever assembled.

Mixed by Australian engineering legend Danny Bonnici in Dolby Atmos, a revolutionary spatial audio technology for the most immersive sound experience, the Phantom Whistler LP will unfurl itself over the course of three months: a new chapter every 3 weeks.

Alongside the album a collection of music videos and animations will accompany created by Australia's leading projection artist Nick Azidis: expect a pastiche filled mood, with atmospheric transformations, nostalgia, and abstract forms. This is more than music, it's an artistic manifesto brave enough to buck the trend.

Tribal drums tap generously on the title track 'Phantom Whistler', a warm deep house number for days covered in dark clouds. With lamenting guitars, trumpets and snapping castanets, it feels Catalan-inspired, a bullfighter reminiscing on a long-lost love and an unforgiving present.

Two years on since his latest incursion on Stil vor Talent with 'The Pictures', Switzerland-based producer Kellerkind turns in his newest four-tracker, 'Forest Mystery'. Delving in his natural inclination towards mystique-imbued tribal sounds, this new effort packs a serious Afro-futuristic kind of punch, laced with a powerhouse hi-tech feel bound to cut a path of devastation across the dance floors. Fully designed and kitted out to meet the requirements of extensive DJ use, this new package lets its whirlwind of polyrhythmic boogie and cosmic groove do the talk as Kellerkind ushers us in a blazing furnace of sorts.
Where the title-track 'Forest Mystery' flexes a bouncy swagger flush with middle-eastern tropes - including some fiery darbukkah solos, and nicely complemented by classic piano house stabs, flamenco-informed clapping and a hi-intensity buildup to rev it all with irresistible club impact, 'Karinda' treats us to a further hypnotic sequence of stripped-back East Coast grooviness and dubbed-out sensuality, bridging the gap between loungey house and proper ritualistic music thanks to spellbinding shaman-like vocal samples out the foggiest jungle.
On 'Mantra', a more aggro, industrial-flavoured verve echoes far and wide, ready to take on any sound system with both that typically intoxicating vox hoodoo wrapping itself around a thunderous techno backbone. Giving us a taste of eternity on the nostalgic closer 'Time', Kellerkind pulls out a massively emotional firework of Prophet-6-powered space dementia and intricate drum programming, laced with an unstoppable bass-driven landslide devouring everything in its wake, making clear 'Forest Mystery' dwells in the club and nowhere else. German live act and vocal electronica outfit, Ameli Paul, release their EP Love For One Another via independent Berlin-based imprint MEIOSIS. 

Our generation is seemingly dancing at the cliff of the edge. A paradoxical state of solitude amidst a sea of faces. It feels like the beginning, but overall rather like the end. As we stand isolated, shrouded in shadows and doubts, love - in all its forms and manifestations - emerges as the guiding light we yearn for. It's what brings us together when everything else seems to fall apart.

Ameli Paul has encapsulated the sentiment of our generation in their latest EP, "Love For One Another." The title track comes with a gloomy breakbeat, a fat 808 bass drum, captivating and dynamic vocals as well as a striking lead synth line. It’s about the devastating situation society has put itself in right now and invites the listener to share love with one another. The track is accompanied by a stunning music video directed by Harry Delgas, which transforms the feeling of the music into a dystopian visual experience. ‘Hangry’ adds a more sinister yet playful tone to the EP, paying tribute to the music of the 90s when utopias remained in the grasp of an earlier generation.

Speaking about the EP, Ameli Paul commented: 

“This EP reflects our melancholic yet hopeful thoughts about the world and our private lives. After playing those two tracks in our live set for the last year, we are more than content to finally release them on our home label Meiosis with a stirring remix by Skatman. For the lyrics we joined forces with Matija Vlatković, with whom we have collaborated with for the theater play ‘Invisible Game’ that addresses illegal pushbacks at the European border.” 

Skatman, who has gained a lot of recognition for his releases on labels likes Innervision and Correspondent, adds a reconstruction of Hangry in his distinctive style of blending old-school with the contemporary: “The idea was to reinterpret the track, into something danceable while keeping the soothing, soulful and dreamy characteristics of the original vocals.”
