"Just" wastes no time locking the brisk rhythm into place before a wriggling earworm of a lead pans across the channels. Atmospheric swells are pieced by gatling-gun snares; the tension builds but never releases, making this a surefire precursor to the bulk of heavyweight set climaxes you're likely to hear this summer. We’re back in the capital with the 8th installment of the “Stil vor Talent Berlin” compilation series, which brings forth a group of old and new faces, who exclusively contributed unreleased tracks, gathered under the umbrella of one of Berlin’s derelict treasures. Neukölln's Blub, short for "Berliner Luft- und Badeparadis", was a waterpark opened in 1985 in the Britz area. After its closure in 2002 the site fell into disrepair, waiting for housing redevelopment and revealing a fragile beauty in its decay as days go by. 

Like all of Berlin's remaining ruins, Blub serves as a reminder of long-gone times, while amplifying the current tensions between aggressive gentrification and useful repurposing.

As always, music is the common denominator and Oliver Koletzki delivers the perfect soundtrack with this new release, while Chrisse Kunst renders the visuals.

If the good times were bottled and turned into a three track EP, ‘Euphoria’ is what we’d call it.

Direct from the brain frame of Kellerkind, a.k.a Marco Biagini, announcing his upcoming third studio album 'Mindtrip', this EP proves again why he is one of Stil vor Talent’s stalwart producers.

The titular track ‘Euphoria’ is a hip-swinging toe-tapper from the get-go. Upbeat yet downtempo, this cut is laced with junglesque samples, yet retains a perfectly calibrated atmosphere of dreamlike elation.

Stepping it up in tempo, ‘Hypnotique’ has just the right amount of repetition to draw the listener into a trance-like state, with somniferous synths and pitch-perfect vocals bringing you back to the present moment.

Uyezwa rounds off the EP with an exotic flavour: the divine vocals of Zimbabwean Oluhle accompanying Kellerkind’s masterful production. The lyrics describe the feeling of a heart in pain, reminding us that to speak is to heal, to let it pass.

Distilling the essence of extreme happiness, and tempering it with a heady dose of realism, this EP is a must-listen for those with a penchant for full-spectrum sonic experience.

If music was a meditation, ‘Mindtrip’ sits in the realm of the liminal: traversing boundaries, borders and polarities. 
An invitation to delve into the (master)mind of Marco Biagini a.k.a Kellerkind, his third studio album is a therapeutic peregrination of sorts, as the Swiss producer channels the ups and downs on the roller coaster of human experience. 

And what a time to be released: as the world turns inwards for a time of solitude, reset and reflection, this must be the soundtrack. 

Drawing inspiration from the radio, to days-gone-by in the club, to his much favoured ‘hang’ or hand pan, Kellerkind weaves these influences into this twelve track album, displaying the full spectrum of his musical wizardry.
This is where we see Kellerkind come into his own. The album develops organically. Anthemic turbulence builds dramaturgy, releasing into gentle flow which offers a subtle sense of solace.

Multifaceted high notes ring out in spacious, almost reverent tones, with slick synths traversing soaring, monastic soundscapes. Like life itself, these highs are contrasted with the lowest of bass-heavy reverbs: grimy, resonant, deep.

Collaborations include “The Mesmerising Circle,” the fruit of a dalliance with maestro Oliver Koletzki - in synchronistic alignment the original melody composed by Koletzki includes the handpan, which features heavily throughout the album. ‘Uyezwa’ features the divine vocals of Zimbabwean singer Oluhle.

Meditative, introspective, emotive: ‘Mindtrip’ takes Kellerkind out of the club to deliver a dose of sonic space-holding.

The message? Take a trip into your own mind: let music be thy medicine, and medicine be thy music.
