Sonic Journeys are soundtracks to specific journeys. Each commissioned piece is available as a free download for limited periods, enabling listeners to experience the music travelling through the landscape that inspired it, or wherever they choose. 
 
Current Commission: The Stopping Train by Gavin Bryars and Blake Morrison 
 
Yorkshire Festival and Sound UK have commissioned Gavin Bryars and Blake Morrison to create an audio work to be listened to on the stopping train journey from Goole (Bryars' birthplace and home town) to Hull (or vice versa). 
 
The piece follows the sequence of stations between Goole and Hull and is designed specifically for this journey. you need to download all 10 episodes (or 5 if only doing one direction) and that each episode is to be played when the train leaves the station in the title of each episode. Blake Morrison's poetry refers to the personal history of Bryars in the area as well as to topographical and historical material. Blake Morrison reads his own poems, and the music was recorded at the recording studios of the National Theatre by members of the Gavin Bryars Ensemble (Gavin Bryars, bass; James Woodrow, guitar; Morgan Goff, viola; Nick Cooper, cello) by sound designer Mic Pool. Produced by Sound UK.
